Error 80070057 on XBL?

Recently I bought an XBox Gold Live membership and when I tried extending my current membership yesterday via the Redeem Code function, I got a 80070057 error stating that I would have to try again later. When I look for this error online all I found are forums about Windows 7 phones and Games for Windows Live.

Has anyone else experienced this?

That was my first thought as well, however I was able to log into my account just fine, visit the store, and a system update was downloaded and applied after plugging in the Kinect for the first time. The download was installed after I attempted the code, so that's not the issue either. This boggles my mind.

I've had problems like that before. I was unable to buy things or redeem a code...I have no idea what the problem is...just something on MS's end I think. From what I remember, all you can really do is try later to see if it works, if not, then try later again.

This edit will also create new pages on Giant Bomb for:
