Looking for a monitor for my 360

#1 Edited by SuperZamrod (269 posts) -

Hey everyone.  I've been looking for a nice monitor that I can use with both my laptop and Xbox 360.  I'm looking for a relatively small screen (26'' or less) and my budget is no more than $350.  I'm curious as to what you guys would recommend? Or what kind of monitors/tvs you guys game on?

I actually bought the Samsung PX2370 yesterday from Best Buy, but I wasn't really satisfied so I returned it today.  The picture seemed a bit fuzzy and not all that sharp.  All the letters on the dashboard had aliasing, and it was especially noticeable when you press the middle button.  Overall, even though it was in 1080p (and connected via an HDMI cable) the picture didn't seem as HD or of as high of a resolution as I've seen on my friends TVs.

Right now I'm looking at the Samsung B2430HD on Newegg.  This is a newer model than the PX2370, it's a bigger screen (by 1 inch), it's cheaper, and it's also an HDTV (which is a big plus for me).  Do you think I will get a better picture on this one?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

You can buy a VGA cable for your 360 so you can just hook it in and get a 16:10 resolution. I did this a couple years ago and the picture was great on my ASUS 22" monitor. Then you can just hook your laptop up through mini-DVI or whatever and you're good to go.

I've had my LG W2442PA for a year and a half now, using it for my PC and PS3/360. 24", 16:9 1920*1080. 1 VGA port, 1 DVI port and 1 HDMI port. Audio in and audio out/headphone ports. Switch from PC to console with a press of a button.

I love it, it's awesome. Highly recommended.

Problem with that is you HAVE to get the official MS VGA cable. 3rd party ones always have more ghosting and the MS one is kinda expensive.

I was going to recommend you that same samsung led monitor, however at least take a look at these. I mean they have a decent response time. I don't use these small pc monitors anymore, I have a glossy colorful hdtv as my display. I understand most of these are probally TN panels or some cheap panels that are easy to manufacture so the colors are shit. You get what you paid for and at least these monitors has good response times. However the above leds should product a decent contrast at least.

Some ppl like dell, I had a techkie friend kept saying to sell my samsung monitor I used in the past and get a X1050 dell? I told him to get lost, however it's a decent suggestion. Although the contrast ratio isn't high, it's still suppose to look good and stuff.

wouldn't using an HDMI cable be much better than a VGA cable?
