I just posted a comment asking if there was a way to play a MGS game on the 360. The sad truth is there isn't a way. But I don't give up hope that easily. I was wondering if anyone made a MGS clone, copying the same gameplay formula and such, and don't say splinter cell because there almost nothing alike.

No. Honestly, it would be a better investment to buy a PS3 and get the game than to put the time into making a "clone".

I didn't mean anything fan made. I just meant another game with a similar idea. (I'm sorry but I don't think I'll ever have 500 spare dollars that I could spend on a PS3).

No, not really. As you already said the only thing that remotely comes close would be Splinter Cell.

Splinter Cell isn't even that similar anyway (compared to what Metal Gear is now). You have to be stealthy in Double Agent, or at least the game is specifically designed with stealth as the main gameplay concept. Not to say that stealth isn't the main concept in Metal Gear Solid 4, but there you can play the whole game running and gunning - it's certainly the way I play it. You can't do that sort of thing in Splinter Cell.

Not really, considering that if you want wifi with your 360, your forking up 100 dollars for a wifi adapter. So thats basically the same price as a PS3. And if you want an Elite, you would have to pay 500 dollars for that wifi capability. I don't think the price and no games arguments really work anymore.

I've been following the splinter cell series, and double agent has largely improved. You actually can beat the game without using stealth. You barely get any achievements and it's not as satisfying, but you guns are so effective in that game that you can sorta just take out your rifle and move the aimer across the screen while you fire, and you pretty take out 3 guys. The shotgun attachment is so fun to play around with, but it's loud so everyone will here you.

Right, but it seems very unlikely that there is only one game that someone is willing to get. Maybe there's that one thing that you want it for and pushes you over the edge, but there is enough versatility that the person will be bound to find other uses for it.

You are exactly right with that. I don't think its ever "buying the console for one game." There's plenty more on the system that one would find and have a great time with.

399 is too much for a few games

MGS4,  Infamous and GOW3 are the only real unique PS3 games

Killzone and uncharted are not new or innovative

I have a 60GB PS3 I got in 2006, and I've bought 3 games for it over the last 2 and half years

Whereas i got a ps3 onlaunch and have to date 33 'disc' games and pretty much every psn download to date -add to that an extensive blu ray collection and all of my friends on my free online play as well a solid hardware and a badass piece of equipment and i reckon it was money well spent

There are plenty of good things about the PS3. Blu Ray being paramount among them. It just comes down to whether you have the money and like the exclusives.

This is starting to become a ps3 debate (Like that's never happened before lol). What's GOW3 (sorry I don't really follow the ps3 games). Also, what about resistance that's a game worth getting on the ps3 right? I don't think I'll get one, but I'm just curiouse what games would drive me to go out and buy it.

*EDIT* God of War 3. lol I'm such an idiot. I should have known that.

A new PS2 + Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection = $160.00 (USD)

Plus tax.  Worth every penny.  Oh, and you'll need both a PS and PS2 memory card.  Unless you want to beat them in one sitting.

I dunno how the exchange works where you are but in Scotland it's about £20 for a PS2 phat and you could get all the MGS games for around £30 all in.. £50 is about the price of a new 360 game + 25%. Which ain't too bad =]
