Watch how load times are improved in GTA4.

Different games will have different rate of improvements. (plus the disc wont spin, so less noise, less heat) cant wait for the update.

tbh it seems to me (and corrcet me if im wrong) that the initial faster loading time is at the begining and after that it isnt quicker at all , i was hoping all load times would be made faster , i admit there is a slight difference of about a second after the initial big load (the booting) ..... IDK its cool as the disc doesnt spin but after that it doesnt seem to be that different , then again GTA is HUGE so maybe other games will show more of a drastic improvement

It looks to have improved roughly 10% or so, which I don't really get the significance of.

Well this will make the drive not spin, so no spinning disc drive = less heat, less noise. I'll do anything to make my 360 shut the hell up.

well i already have a 120Gb so yeah it would be nice to justify the purchase of it , then again i got mine for £50 on import and it cost less than the going price for 20GB at the time in the UK so i had to buy it really , and hell it has 30Gb of music on it anyway so that alone makes the purchase worth while

The main difference is the fact that there's no noise, and no heat, which is good if you have a decent HDD.  Unfortunately for me, I don't. :[

From what I remember reading, many of the newer games won't see a huge benefit from the HDD-loading option.  Older games, like Oblivion or PGR3 or Fight Night Round 3 (basically, it would seem, games from the first year and a half of the 360 being out), you will see a bigger benefit for them.

Even though the loading isn't as fast as I would like it to be, the other pros to installing the games out weight this quite a bit.    Less noise FTW!

On a side note, I heard that game installation loading times are much better for older games compared to new ones.

With GTAIV in particular, textures and other minor things will load quicker to further perfect the game.

It'll work better with games that are designed to take better advantage of it, as evidenced by PS3 games that were designed with it in mind such as Soul Caliber IV.

I hope the difference is apparent is some of the earlier releases. I stopped playing Mass Effect when I heard about this hard drive install; the texture loading was just plain horrible.

I don't think this would help with texture pop-in that is that blatant, either way we'll find out in November.

I'm close to the limit of my original HDD anyway, so I'll need to upgrade to the 120 GB in due time.

Maybe, maybe I'll install some of the bigger games that I play, just to cut down on noise, but I can see myself utilizing this very often.

all in all its a good feature , and will for many of us help justify our 120Gb hard drive purchases , but its perhaps not as significant as it coulda been, because like i said earlier it seems the initial boot of the game is where it its faster and only there .

then again tho it should be interesting to see just how quiet the 360 becomes while playing , it might seem like a desert island moment when you relise everything is silent .... if it has that effect that would be awesome .

p.s i knw desert island arnt really that quiet but you get my point ; )

In the games like GTAIV that take really long to load(although I'm never playing it again anyway), they are few and far between in terms of other games that take equally long...so if the improvement to a game that loads that slow on a disc to a HDD is only that little amount of difference, this feature isn't very significant at all...I even remember months ago someone said the difference was barely noticable, this really shows that.

The HDD version loaded into gameplay approxiately 17 seconds faster than the DVD version...or, about 17-18% faster overall.  When you first start to watch the video, the difference doesn't seem drastic, but 18% is significant.  I understand that the improvement will be different from game to game, but as a person who owns both a 360 and a PS3, this new feature will definitely influence my future buying decisions when it comes to multiplatform titles.

The best thing about being able to install to HDD is we can finally use our scratched disks again. For example, my Halo 3 disk is scratched from either my bro or his xbox, it will load up but won't load a map due to damage. Now i can either borrow or rent a copy of Halo 3, install it to my HDD and just use my disk to satisfy the disk requirement. This update will be great!

I've never really been bothered with any load times on the 360. At least GTA4 gives you rocking tunes.

However, even though I have a 120GB HDD, I flat out refuse to install a game on a console no matter what the benefits. That, my friends, is what the motherfucking computer is for.

All good and well... if you have a PC that can run games capably. I however do not.
