I dont know.....I know the old "5 year old" console lifespan expectancy, but I still think the 360 is capable of alot more than just 1 more year. Maybe 3, 4 years. New games like Forza 3, Halo ODST, show that the 360 still has alot more to show. I guess the biggest concern with the 360 is the limitations of the DVD, and the idea of FFXIII on multiply DVDs does not fly with me.

it seems a bit of a stretch, just because they said that its like a console launch, doesn't mean it is a console launch.

I think, if anything, it will probably be another xbox, like the elite, but with Natal, it has slightly better performance, and maybe a cool color scheme.

    I don't believe it...

And kudo said that "it will work with all xbox360 people already have".

Also a new architecture for xbox was already lauched with the Resident Evil special edition this year.

    So it's improbable... but possible.

The most probable stuff is a bundle with the latest xbox 360 version.

I don't see what the big problem is with multiple discs.

i think that there is still power in the 360. i'm not going to be buying a new next gen console until i know there is going to be a price cut for it. it will be somewhere around 2014 or so for a new console.

I sure hope there isn't, not any time soon anyway.

Buying all 3 consoles this gen hurt a lot more than when I did it last gen with the PS2, XBOX, and GameCube.

    Thank gawd fer credit :p

They're not launching a new console next year.  They wouldn't be making Halo: Reach for the 360 if they had a new console coming a couple months later.  Also why would they bother making sure it worked with the 360 if it was for a new console?  Microsoft would end up competing against itself.

You guys seem to be forgetting the rrod is still an issue...re-releasing the hardware in a different layout with some slight modifications could solve their problems.  I don't think it's an entirely new console type deal.

One thought I have is if they did this, they may bundle the XBOX360v2 with Natal in the box... maybe even make it connect to it the wirelessly, natively, without using a controller connection.

Another thing they probably could do is shrink the CPU and GPU to a 45nm process, which Intel and AMD are/have moved to, instead of using 90nm (Falcon/etc.) or 65nm (Jasper).  This would make things use even less power and run cooler, reducing RROD chances.

To put in the simplest of words, it depends on when Xbox360s stop selling.

New consoles are shipped due to the lack of demand for the current one.

I wonder if they'll remove the DVD drive.

No DVD drive and better hard drive tech means less power, so you can shrink the power adapter and fans inside. HDMI-only and you can drop the video port. Internal Wi-Fi and no more eth. port.

I bet you could shave the size of the 360 in half. Bundle that with Natal and I may be willing to buy it.

Edit: For 200$. Maybe 250, no more.

@Icil: I assume you're talking about digital distribution then, correct? If so, I couldn't disagree with you more. We're still at least one, probably two, console generations away from seeing digital distribution as the only way to get games.

It all depends on how the PSP Go! does. If it does poorly (which I think it will), don't expect digital distribution anytime soon.
