I picked my 360 back in January of this year, and I just realized the other day - the only thing I really use it for is music and rhythm games, which I could easily buy for Wii instead. I'm not a big fan off the shooter genre (A few game I do like though - Halo 3 and Bioshock as examples), but I absolutely love adventure / action / platforming games, especially if they have a good story to acompany. I've beaten all 3 Banjo Kazooie games, Mirror's Edge, Splosion Man, Portal, The Maw, and I own Braid, but wasn't really a big fan of it. I plan to pick up Shadow Complex soon, as well as Castle Crashers. What are some other good games in these genres I could try?

Take a look at Batman. It's got limited platforming but you can explore, find trophies, solve riddles & if you like the villains theirs creepy tapes you could find. It's worth a look at least.

Gex... are you talking about the games starring the lizard? According to wikipedia, there aren't any for 360... though I did enjoy Enter the Gecko when I was younger.

There aren't many platformers on 360.  Have you checked out Ninja Gaiden 2 or Devil May Cry 4?

Kameo is cool. It's definitely worth $20, and you could probably find it for even cheaper these days. It is pretty short, though, but still worth playing. I think the new Prince of Persia might be the best one yet. I loved it. Sands of Time was darker, but certain things about it really did annoy me a lot during the game. Assassin's Creed seemed a bit repetitive to me, but it was enjoyable enough that I would have kept playing it if I didn't have to return the rental. Some people really love it, so if I was you, I'd give a shot. I played the Cloning Clyde demo and it was fun. You might want to look into it. There's also the remade Secret of Monkey Island game, which has scored good reviews. N+ is supposed to be a pretty intense and challenging platforming game. I think it's only like $5 on Xbox Live Arcade. Oh, and then there's Mega Man 9. How about the Ghostbusters game? Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, or Lego Batman or Lego Indiana Jones should also be considered. If you missed out on Bully on the PS2, I'd recommend trying the 360 version. Well, I hope I've been of some assistance. There's a whole lot of games to consider there.

theres a lot of crappy to mediocre film tie in platform games...some of them are not bad and arent entirely unplayable, others are abysmal.

but yeah the 360 isnt the console for adventurey games
batman, assassins creed, prince of persia, nuts & bolts, and the three or so tomb raider games (anniversary being the best) are the best youre getting at the minute.
or the sonic genesis/megadrive collection is good..theres a lot of quality old school platformers on that  and its pretty cheap

you might want to give elder scrolls oblivion a shot.
I know it seems like a straight rpg, but its more of an action game. Its really really good
Just make sure to choose some type of warrior class. Its extremely hard to play with the other kinds.

If you haven't played Castlevania Symphony of the Night I would say get that, it is an excellent game
