Slim Disc Drive is Loud

I picked up a slim when they came out and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. Over time it has gotten louder. Paying attention has lead me to the disc drive as the culprit. I stand the 360 up if that means anything. Anyone else have this problem?

Don't stand your Xbox 360 up. The vents are located in a position where if you had it horizontal, they face up.

Having you xbox stand does not do an adequate job in venting out hot air.

well i have bought a used slim 360 no noise besides when it first starts reading the disc i hear it for only 2 seconds split , then its all quiet so ---- maybe its dirty on the lens get a laser lens cleaner -made for gaming systems the one with smaller brushes i have one of those i picked up from best buy ,

it was for xbox ps2 gc dc ps1 but works with all other disc based stuff so find one of those things,

and also keep vents unblocked

there is a fan on the top so never put a playstation 3 nintendo wii or any other object that blocks the top

Hot air rises. There is a big hole and a fan where the hot air should leave, standing it up does not do a good job at this.

Also it runs louder if the game isn't installed. If it is then I don't know what it is then.
