Am I the only one who noticed this? I'm getting an elite soon because I want the bigger harddrive and I'm fed up with the old 20GB I have now. I was round a friend's house who has an elite so I took a look at it, the thing is freaking grey! The controller looks nice and even the power button on the console looks black, but the rest of it is grey.

It's just that I have never seen any mention of this on the web. Why isn't it black like the controller? Does anyone else agree that it looks plain ugly?

It's not gray it's flat black. It's not really "shiney" so it can come off as a gray. The pictures are a bit misleading showing a more glossy black finish.

...and still with primarily red characters...and yes, I'm going to count Emilio's Kong, as it's a reddish-brown type of thing...and ya know, Gamer_152 is just lightish-red...

But anyways, mine is very black, and that picture in the OP looks gray due to the flash/lighting.

Oh and that was the other thing I meant to ask; what happened to the bottom of the 360 controllers? Mine (as they are older ones) are silver on the bottom whereas newer ones I have seen are grey.
I'm not trying to come across as really picky or bothered about all this stuff, just curious.

But do you mean the Elite controllers? I got my Elite last year and they have the grey on the bottom of the controllers.

Huh, I just looked at my launch 360 controllers and I can see what you mean; it's kind of a lighter shade than the elite's controllers. And then there's my Halo 3 controller which is black on the bottom :P

I just meant controllers in general. All the new controllers I have seen recently, black and white, have been grey on the bottom, just wondering what happened. Always thought the silver looked really cool on them."

Heres the thing when you have a flat black color the black tends to absorb light at a much more rapid pace, so when you SHINE a FLASH on it then said black takes on a grey tone specially in light colored rooms.

OK, I just bought my elite today and as far as I can tell; it's a very dark black that just looks crappy in really bright rooms. I still wonder why the controller is a better black than the console, you would think they would use the same stuff on both.

The 120GB harddrive makes up for it anyway.

Mine is pitch black pretty much....and no, I'm not just "not noticing it". Maybe the color on yours faded a bit, or you're just thinking its grey in a certain light.

Hmm, compare it to the power button and IR reciever, those are pitch black, and if you say there is no difference then I want proof! ^_^
