Does the 360 wireless network adapter work very well? I am home from the summer and would like to get onto XBOX live, but the modem/router is down a floor and would take a very long cord to reach it... So my question is if the wireless network adapters are really worth the money/is there a cheaper option?

You can get a 100 ft ethernet cord for less than 30 bucks. The network adaptor is $100, and from what I've herd, doesn't work too well.

It works fine, but is $100. I think you can find it for a little less though.

It works very well.  I've used it for years - no complaints.

$100 is the list price.  Shop around - you should be able to find it on the web for ~ $75.

Get a laptop or PC use a normal wireless, and then if you're using a Wireless laptop or pc, connect the ethernet from the PC/laptop to the Xbox and share internet connection.

If you're using an ethernet cable for the PC you could get either an adapter so ethernet to USB or a second ethernet port.

I done the first with my PS3 and it worked, never tried it on the Xbox though.

Mine worked well for a while but ended up breaking.  If you can use a cable it's a way more reliable method.  A second option, if you have a wireless laptop, is bridging your ethernet and wireless connections.  If you have an Ethernet cable you can then connect your 360 to your laptop and then have wireless access that way.

Does it give you as good of a connection as a cord does?

    There are cheaper options.
    http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/xboxlive/getconnected/compatiblenetworkequipment/compatiblenetworkingequipment.aspx
the compatibility list is based around the xbox live compatibility logo but it says if it works with vista then it will work with xbox live, and most stuff ceritified to work with XP will all so work with live so that list is shorter then what will work on 360 what your looking for is a wireless bridge and there are many options to choose from for as low as 40 bux so more then likely if you get a recently made wireless bridge it will work with xbox live.

It's a little expensive but it works as advertised. I have never had any connection problems.

@denj3325: My friends have it and love it and I've played on their boxes and it works fine. My cousin the original Xbox adapter on his 360 and it works just as well and is half the price. Check it out.

It works perfectly fine for me. It is overly expensive but it is visually better than having an ethernet chord running through my homes play room, over a railing and hanging in front of my front door, through the living room, kitchen, past the garage door and into the laundry room.

It works well, and it also is convenient if you want to bring you xbox to a friends house and play it there. But its only as good as your connection, and I've seen them fail many times.

So it will work for you, but you may experience a few problems. Plus, its 100 bucks.

@Stephen_Von_Cloud: I went with the second option, and used my laptop's wireless connection, and it works fairly well as far as I can tell... Thanks for all the help and input everyone
