My experience with the towel trick, yes it works..which was surprising ..I guess now I am a believer..but still after a 5th x-box I really hoped that this would stop. You know what the funny thing is..they recently said that the RROD was no longer a problem..well I guess not cause my brand new 2 month old xbox broke -_-

well where do you keep it?  If you keep it in a confined area thats your own fault.

Yeah more often than not RROD is because of shitty conditions. Tight, hot or dusty spaces will destroy almost any piece of modern electronics over time.

the good old towel trick. yes, that is burning that u smell. when i tried it on my second 360 it smelt bad for like 30 min after doing the towel trick. i'm kind of wondering what kind of a 360 u have.

what kind of 360 do u have?  my first 360 lasted me 4 months and then my second one lasted me a year. the first one was the first 360 that they made. (what ever they called the motherboard) the second one was the falcon. i'm still on it microsoft fixed it shipped me out the same 360.

Then you must have done something to your 360's, even first ones last for around 2 years on average. And 4 months is just ridiculous.

Lets see as i've said a million times before.
My original launch 360 is sitting pretty in my nephews room still chugging along and its not very loud by the way it served me well till i purchased my elite, NOW that one did fail to e74 but it took them a week and 2 days to get fixed and delivered back to me it has chugged along ever since and its quiet as a mouse by the way.

now mind you i understand and recognize the system had problems BUT i never experienced these problems in the extreme like you have some folks claiming and it gets rather whats the word....unbelievable when one of the biggest claim i heard was a person going through 20 in like a 2 month span.

I've had my Xbox for over two years now and it's RROD'd once. And that was in a somewhat confined space. So I'm not sure this is actually the Xbox's fault.

My launch Xbox RROD'd 2 years after launch and then the replacement they sent me lasted a year and a half. I haven't bothered getting it fixed now that it costs $100.

I've had pretty good luck with my xbox, I did have to send it in once but I got a launch console, and I think I can deal with once.

no, i got it in august and it died in January, maybe 5 months. it was somewhere a long there. i bought insurance for it because i knew people had problems with it so i went to gamestop and exchanged it for a newer one. the funny thing is that my friend's who had a 360 longer just died then the next day  my dies. i left it on just about 24 hours that night as me and my friend played it then watched two movies.

Hmmmmm get a ps3?

I don't get it.  My friend has a launch that has rroded 4 times and another that has rroded 3 times yet they stick by xbox. Does the controller have the crack cocaine coating that's absorbed through the skin, or is the drug on the discs themselves?
