I dont understand something. Why is it if someone has a preference they are immediately a fanboy. I, IN ALL CASES, buy the Xbox 360 version of games even though I have a PS3 and have had it since launch.
The reasons for this are all rational.
1. I like the controller better. There was a time when i said the Dual Shock was the greatest controller of all time. Then the 360 controller came out. It is my favorite, it might not be yours, but its mine.
2. Xbox Live. I have a knack for getting into a party and chatting with friends when I play single player games. I realize this is possible but the vast majority of my friends dont have PS3s, and the ones who do, myself included, dont have headsets.
3. Taste. I own Resistence, and I don't like it. I own MGS4. I don't like it. I tried the Killzone demo for hours hoping it would click. It never did. Uncharted was ok but I never bought it. I have nothing against these titles and see why critics and gamers love them but I tried them and they didnt tickle my fancy. Other games that didnt grab me? Gears of War 1 and 2 and I am not a huge Halo fan.
I bought the PS3, Sony OWES me. I don't owe them anything. If i play a game I give it a few hours, and if it doesnt click I move on. I might be worse off for this but thats my loss. I would love to turn on my PS3 more. Valkyria Chronicles was pretty amazing, same with Little Big Planet.
I dont understand why taste is a bad thing. None of these Giant Bomb guys give too shits what a platform a game is on they just want to use them all. Sure they might prefer one controller over the other, or the dashboard of another, but it is their job to review games, obviously bias of console goes out the door.
GTA4 and MGS4 were both shitty games IMO, and that podcast iffuriated me because they talked as if GTA4 was flawless. GTA might have "story" and sadly if that is the pinnacle of gaming story we have a long way to go, but it has terrible repetetive gameplay. MGS on the other hand is about the most ignorant shit wrapped in an intellecual ball. The story is bloated and the shooting mechanic and stealth is bogged down by arcahic controls. This is my opinion, all the respects to Kojima, and the fans of the game. It is NOT for me.
I honestly thing the trend is that PS3 gets off easy. Average games become A+ titles because the reviewers just want something to talk good about on the PS3.
