I think I'm one of the 360 owners with bad luck. I'm on my 3rd 360 right now. My other two died a painful death of RRoD. i don't recall if they found a cure yet. :(

How many times has your 360 died and how did it bite the dust?

My 360, the Core version, has only died on me once and then I switched and got a Halo 3 Edition console and it has never died out since.

I've had a few, all with different problems. My first one started locking up which eventually lead to the usual red ring hardware failure. I've had disc drives which can't read brand new game discs and I've just had to send off my current (4th) xbox 360 because the video output went all fuzzy red and green and then stopped working completely. Apparently (well, according to wikipedia) they've started doing this since mid 2007 and it's not covered by the 3 year warranty. Fortunately I've only had this particular console since October...

It's pretty bad but what can you do. At least all mine have been repaired/replaced completely free so far.

I'm on number three. First one got the three red lights of death after 6 months of owing it. Second one disk tray malfunctioned, and my 3rd has been going good for almost a year now.

I bought my first 360 in March of last year. I ended up selling that one for various stupid reasons, but I probably dodged a bullet--it was an older model that surely would have red ringed on me at some point. The 360 I bought early this year is the latest premium model, which should be fine ("should" being a very loose word here).

I'm on my second one, but it didnt die of natural causes. My mom knocked it over with her feet, loosening my CD drive(grinding noise), and destroying my Oblivion.

My first 360 died on me once(GHIII), so I sent it in, bought a new one(since I read about the 3 months wait and stuff, but looks like its different in Europe, got it back within 7 days), got the old one back, and the new one has been going since then.

Back last summer my 360 got the red ring of death, I sent it off, got it back the day Bioshock was released, and within 24 hours of receiving my 360 back it died again, six hours into Bioshock.

The funny thing is, I'm pretty sure they had sent me a new console and it still broke down. I got Kameo for free when I complained. Wow.

I had 2 go down with the RRoD. The last one actually came back on after 20 or so tries and I just left it running 24/7 until the box came from Microsoft.

Once, a little over a year ago. It wasn't the RRoD, but this weird thing where I could hear everything fine, but the screen was black with white dots flying over the screen. It was very weird and confusing...

Three times. My first lasted about a year (got it December of 2005), my second lasted all of one week, and my third just broke yesterday and had to be shipped off.
