Here is a blog I made about my experiences with the faulty XBox 360 Controllers.  -- > More XBox 360 Hardware Failures - Now It's the Controllers Blog

I have had 4 controllers fail on me in 2 years.  Prior to the XBox 360, I have never had a controller go bad, ever.  And I have owned a LOT of consoles over the years (see blog for more info).

On all of the controllers, it's been the buttons that have stopped working.  The last controller only lasted 4 months.

Have any of you experienced problems with faulty XBox 360 controllers?  If so, what was the problem?

I have 2 launch controllers which still work fine.  I've never heard of the 360 controllers breaking before.

I haven't had many controllers break in all my gaming, Lynx Dpad wore out pretty fast, I've had a lot of 3rd party controllers die (cord gets pulled out, shoulder buttons breaking...)

I had an issue with a wireless controller where the right trigger lost it's springiness...Microsoft replaced it under warranty.  Other than that, no problems and I've never heard of anyone complaining about the 360 controllers, either.

I had one controller that doesn't work, but I think it was used.
At least its not like my friend's DS3 which has an incredibly sensitive and worn R2 after a few weeks of gameplay.

None of my 360 controllers have failed...yet.

but we all know, from owning alot of consoles, that controllers will go bad on you all of a sudden.  My Playstation and Playstation 2 controllers were notorious for failing, from button presses not registering, to the controller continually disconnecting and the like.  The surprising thing is, when I compare my Xbox & Xbox 360 hardware experience to my Playstation and Playstation 2 hardware experience, the Xbox/Xbox 360 one is better (even with my 1 red ring, it still isn't as much as my other sony hardware problems). But I guess Im a rare case...

Also, my Snes and Genesis controllers....sheeeesh those things broke if you breathed on em...

I've had the controller that came with the console as well as one of those crappy Halo Limited Edition versions (not crappy as in quality). Both of them work perfectly, and I play a lot. If your controller is breaking, it's either a faulty manufacturing problem (e.g. MB's spring issue) or you're mistreating it. You may declare the manufacturing possibility as somewhat obvious, but I meant specifically those types of problems. But hey, thanks for the needless link to your blog!

I know why its failing to work, its beacause your throwing it at the wall. You know what you need to do, get control of that temper son, or ill have to take that video box of you.

You guys need to read my blog, I have my controllers from every other console I have ever owned, no problems.  XBox 360 I have had 4 controllers that have failed (notice the word failed, and not broken).  The controllers aren't being abused, they are simply failing, but all in the same way, the buttons quit responding.  On 3 of them, it was the 'A' button, and on one it was the 'Y' button.

Do know what the warranty period for the controller was?  Did it require a receipt, or is the model number enough?

I've had a problem with the rechargable battery pack not charging using the play and charge kit, but the buttons all work fine since I got the system about a year ago.

Fucking Nerd, still has an Atari. I gave that shit up when I was 9 and literally poured milk upon my 2600 upon which I received a NES. I got a locked X-launch button wired X360 controller but I don't give a shit because I have 3 wireless controllers, chuff it out and stop your whinging. I got a RROD 2 weeks ago and bought a whole new Elite console, such is the price to pay for being a gamer and you're crying over fucking controllers, jesus christ, go buy a Wii you peasant.

Some one is clearly drunk or high on coke.

I'd also like to add that I just noticed one of my 360 controllers you have to press hard in order to make the right analog function.

Check your 360, make sure it's open to the controller.

I have a problem with my controllers: the D-Pad sucks.

Other than that, my controllers work fine. I've even cleaned them in a way that would probably void the warranty.
