Well im one of them... here are a few of the crappy aracde games i bought hoping that they would be good for $5
Small arms... total ripoff of super smash bros
galaga (the original) i was hoping it was an updated version....
worms... sucks
doom.. i was hoping better from one of the first fps games ever made (if not the first since i cant remember)
so far the only good arcade games i have played is castle crashers..
any purchases you wish you hadnt made?

Woah, hang on...Worms is awesome; yes, the AI cheats, but that game is good. And why must Smash Bros be the only Smash Bros-like game in existence? Small Arms put a ranged-combat spin on the game and it worked pretty well. I'm kinda with you on Doom, though. The first FPS I really got in to was Quake 2, so going back to Doom was kind of a shock.

I bought both Small Arms and Doom (both at 400 points) and I dont feel ripped off at all. Small Arms is a little hard to control but I found it to be a lot of fun and had plenty of content for 400 points (and just about enough for 800).

Doom on the other hand rocks, its freaking doom. Though thats probably because ive been playing and replaying since it got released.

Doom is the game that I must have played the most as a teenager. Nothing has come close to co-op doom until Left 4 Dead, the game that respects the foundations that Doom laid and builds on them i.e, "You are here, you need to get there, there are zombies in the middle, go." 400 points is a steal.

The game I regret is Age of Booty, that game's difficulty curve is a right angle.

I'm pretty sure, Arcade games have always had demos, or at least long enough not to be considered "recently."
That's why I haven't ever not been satisfied with my arcade purchase. =)

Edit: Why the hate for doom? It says right on the game DOOM so when you purchase it you should know thats exactly what your getting! DOOM! Besides doom is awesome and has easy acheivements

Doom is a great game. It's an amazing deal for 400 points.

I've never really bought an XBLA game that I didn't enjoy, mostly because I read reviews, play demos, and watch videos before deciding which games to purchase.

Definately not the first, before it was Wolfenstein 3D, and before that ID had another, and even before that there were several games in the first person, heck the first commercially releases FPS was faceball (it had another name too) on the Atari 2600 and gameboy.

Anyway, why the hell would you expect an updated version of something when it clearly states it's the original?

W/e, they all have demos and plenty of online reviews it's really your own fault.

I've never regretted an XBLA purchase, cept mayb Garou Mark of the Wolves, just cannot get into it.

There are tons of good arcade games besides Castle Crashers too, Comix Zone, Puzzle Quest, Duke Nukem 3D, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Both episodes of the Penny Arcade RPG, Sam and Max Save
Tthe World, and tons more you just gotta bother looking for them.

Edit: And yeah, Doom was great at 800 points, 400 points is an absolute steal and theres no excuse not to own this timeless classic.

I dont know that has yet to happen to me because all arcade games are required to have trails (I believe that is actually a rule from Microsoft right?) and usually if the trail dosnt hook me I dont buy the arcade game same with games that have demos for me at least.

Every game has a demo, but I'm an impulsive buyer. Which led me to buy Arkadian Warriors. I keep it on my HDD for one reason, to teach myself a listen about impulse buys on XBL, and why they are a very terrible thing that should not be done. It's the only game I've downloaded that I fully and absolutely regret, and I have 54 arcade games. (as well as 7 Xbox Originals, 3 community games)

Marathon, I have no idea what in the hell I'm supposed to be doing or where I'm going....some of those levels are harder to navigate than Wolfenstein 3D's maze of levels. :|

Arkanoid Live by far takes the gold medal in that department. My wife loves this game and was very happy when she found it on XBL. Needless to say she was she pissed once she found out that you only get Chapters 1 and 2 and if you want chapters 4 and 5 it will cost an additional 400 points. The XBL description does say you only get 92 levels but it seems just shady to me what they did with it.

Why hate for Doom and Worms? I bet the people who bought Worms didn't have a fucking clue what it was and just saw the Worm holding a gun thinking it was some sort of side scroller.

@Ishoturface: Small Arms ain't that bad, its worth the price. I really recommend Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Braid. Those two games are must plays for hard core gamers.

Wait, are you talking about Worms 1 or Worms 2 Armageddon? Worms 1 is okay, but Worms 2 Armageddon is among the best games available for download on any system, and it's only 10 bucks

Exact same thing for me..I stopped playing after I got stuck and was sick of walking around the same map for hours.

I also bought Assault Heros after playing the demo, but got bored quickly and never finished.
