Recently Ive been trying to connect my XP pc to my Xbox 360 for media streaming. I have Windows Media Player 11 installed. In the instructions for connecting my pc to my 360 I read all I need to do is open WMP11 and go to Library > Media Sharing > Allow Media Sharing and there should be a box that comes up with the 360 listed. However with mine that box is empty. Right now my 360 is connect to live through the original xbox wireless adapter. The pc that I wish to stream media from is connect to a wireless network through a linksys adapter to a linkysys router. Any help or insight you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly I've tried that a while back with WMP and the streaming itself was mediocre at best...it gets choppy and the video quality is not good at all. However, I have found that streaming through the Windows Media Centre if you have it installed on your PC is extremely nice even if it takes a few minutes to load the menus. I never notice a loss in quality for my videos or even any skipping so long as you have a decent router in your house to set up your network.

Just open WMC on your 360 and it'll give you a code to put on your PC. Open WMC on your PC and it should say that it found a Windows Media Extender (360) and walk you through the setup, then all you have to do is add the folders you want on WMC on your 360 and you're good to go.

Mine works only when the pc is connected by ethernet cable to the same network as the 360, so try that if you can.
