Has the Falcon chip been effective? And where's Jasper?

Just curious if the Falcon chip has proven to be effective. Also, an estimate on when the Jasper chip sets will be on shelves would be appreciated.

I don't know if they have been proven to be effective, I think it's still about the same amount of failures. I heard the new 360s (I assume with the Jasper chip sets) would be out sometime early next year.

Yeah it's hard to get any concrete numbers on whether the falcon chips have faired better. The only place I ever see discussion of it is on forums, and links never seem to be supplied with poster's opinions...so who knows.

I only know 2 people for certain that have a falcon, and they haven't experienced any failures.

These chips really don't do shit...besides the tiniest few percent going back and fourth...still the same amount of failures are happening really.

No it hasn't. I made sure my 360 had a Falcon chip when I bought it last year, and I've had it break two times. (I'm getting it back from the second repair on Monday).

I have had a few of my friend's 360s break on them, and they have bought them recently. I'm going to assume they are the Falcon chips, too.

They were planning in getting jasper's into 360's by august. I haven't heard anything about it recently though, so I don't know if they are in them yet.

I thought they may have been effective than the previous chip, but I do not know anyone with a Falcon chip(that I know of).

Do the Arcade models have the Falcon chip in them?

Yeh I'm pretty sure the newer Arcades have Falcon chipset.

The one thing that's keeping me from picking up a 360 is all the horror stories about them failing.  The new arcade package is pretty incredible, too.  I really hope they can do something, be it new chips or whatever, to fix 'em up good.

Perhaps Microsoft delayed the release of the chipsets to a limited amount. If that's the case, this Christmas would be a definite delivery. But next year isn't too far off either, so there's a window of opportunity for them in the long run. Hopefully the "tales of woe" enter a slumber, and no one will have to face problems again.  (any console, not just the 360)

Yeah, the 360 isn't the only one with issues. The PS3 has Disk Reading Errors, and sometimes, the Wii bricks(very low chance, but I heard of it happening).
