General

The Xbox 360, the second video game console from Microsoft Corporation, was officially unveiled on May 12, 2005 on a special presentation show that aired live on MTV.
Co-Developed with IBM, ATI, and Silicon Integrated Systems, the Xbox 360 uses the triple-core IBM designed Xenon as its CPU, ATI Xenos which has 10 MB of embedded eDRAM as the graphics processor and has a main memory pool is 512 MB in size.  Development of the Xbox 360 began in early 2003, a year and a half after the original Xbox release.
On the 4th of January, Microsoft announced that they had sold 17.7 million units worldwide. Witch was a huge achivment as they didnt think it would be a as bigger hit than it was.

Launch

The Xbox 360 was launched on November 22nd, 2005 in the US, December 2nd, 2005 in Europe, and December 10th, 2005 in Japan. It was the first of the three current generation of consoles (Wii / PS3/ 360). By the end 2005 the 360 was available in a total of 36 different countries. During the first five months, it was hard to find an Xbox 360, after that they became more available to anyone who wanted to buy one. At launch, there were 2 different versions of the 360 available. They were the Core and the Premium. The core was $299 at launch, and bundled with a wired controller, xbox 360 without chrome finish, SD cables, and 1 month gold trial. Special Editions/Holiday Bundles

The first special Edition Xbox 360 that was available in stores was the Halo 3 special edition, released in 2007, just in time for Halo 3. It includes everything the premium console did, along with a free dashboard theme, play and charge kit, and with "Spartan Green and Gold" colors. It was priced at $399.
The 2007 holiday bundle included two games: Forza 2, and Marvel ultimate alliance. They were included with the Premium and Elite packages. The 2008 holiday bundle includes: Lego Indiana Jones and Kung foo panda. These come with the Premium and elite packages. The arcade 2008 bundle includes: Sega superstar Tennis.
In 2009, Microsoft released the limited edition Resident Evil 5 bundle.  This included a red Xbox 360 elite with a red controller, red headset, and a copy of RE5 as well as Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix.

The New Xbox Experience

The New Xbox Experience was revealed at E3 2008. At the time it was planned to include at launch: Xbox Live Primetime (1vs100, etc.), Avatars, Netflix, New user interface, party system (8 person private chat), support 16:10 screen, easier to navigate xbox marketplace, marketplace viewable on xbox.com, hard drive install, community games. It launched on November 19th, 2008 and Primetime was delayed.

RROD

One of the major complaints about the xbox 360 is known as the "Red ring of death". This problem is caused by faulty hardware design with the chips inside of the console and overheating. Microsoft extended the warranty from 1 to 3 years due to this problem. There is around a 30% failure rate for xbox 360 consoles.

On April 14th Microsoft started to include the E74 error which is speculated to have something to do with the HDMI port. Major Nelson expanded slightly on the issue in a post on his blog stating that the inclusion of the E74 error in the three year warranty "reaffirms our commitment to customers that we stand behind our products and deliver a great Xbox experience."

Note: When adding games to this page please ensure the Xbox 360 is represented in-game, and is not just a game released on the console.
