So yeah, as of tomorrow Gold members can download the original Crackdown for free. Then on the 15th Gold Members can download DR 2 and DR 2: Case Zero. I dunno, I really loved the original Crackdown so I guess I'm happy more people get to play it, but I was REALLY hoping it was going to be Halo 3. I really want to those playlists to come back to life, man!

Also I'm not sure about all regions but Germany Gold Members get Shadowrun and Lost Planet 2. What.

I haven't touched Crackdown since back in the day and only played Case Zero instead of the full DR2, so maybe I'll check these out. Interesting that only Germany gets Shadowrun; it would be cool if they did Halo 3 and Shadowrun for everyone so both games get a population boost.

It's good to see Xbox Live finally catching up to PSN+.

Those aren't bad choices. Dead Rising 2 isn't even that old either.

Also - for those who wanted to get started on the 6.15 GB Crackdown download - it's already Free if you search the marketplace for it rather than just checking the 'Games with Gold' window.

Crackdown is a great game.

They got a long way to go before they've caught up. Still good to see that Gold owners actually get something other that things that should be free anyway.

Seriously, though, I'm really looking forward to playing Dead Rising. I was never sure if I'd end up enjoying it based on the demos, so it will be nice to check it out for free.

I just canceled my gold subscription, and don't really plan on starting it back up, but this honestly seems pretty cool. I got Assassin's Creed 2 before canceling, which I've had a ball with, and it really seems like they might actually end up giving PlayStation Plus a run for its' money with their free games.

I've already played Crackdown, but getting DR 2 for free will be pretty sweet. I got real worried about this promotion when Defense Grid was the first game, but it seems like it could be genuinely pretty cool.

Alright this is better than last month.

That's where we are - that's pretty much where we've been since the link between art and commerce was established. And that link has never been more direct than it has been right now - developers have never been better informed on exactly what kind of vidja games you like.

I don't see Crackdown or the Dead Rising expansion changing that.

Never played DR2 this is pretty great. Nice to see they're putting up some more recent-ish games.

i have played and enjoyed both of these games, its not that the games are bad its that they are so old you can see the dust between the polygons, the value proposition of Xbox gold is still nowhere in the ballpark of PSN, in fact both games are available for a measly $15 new from retail stores.

this month on PS+ includes XCOM, uncharted 3 and saints row 3 to name but a few, I have a gold account so i will have access to these games but i'd love to see them switch it up and add relatively new games that i possibly missed and not just some old rubbish from the xbox classics collection that sold well and i have likely already played.

I always though about playing Crackdown, but never got around to doing it. Now I'm glad I waited.

I enjoyed crackdown when I played a year or two after it's release. Case Zero wasn't too bad either, but I absolutely hated Dead Rising 1 because of how irritating to fight some of the psychos and the lack of decent checkpointing. I heard the second was better at that.

The psycho boss battles are still bullshit, and the checkpoints were only added in the Off the Record version. Even still, the default Dead Rising 2 is better than the original in just about every conceivable way. It's free so, no harm in trying it out. But you should temper your expectations, since many of the 'quirks' the series is known for are still very prominent in Dead Rising 2.

Thanks for clarifying, I'll keep that mind. Do they still have the toilet save points, or do I have to go to the safe room everytime?

@eternalvigil: Yeah, the save system is virtually unchanged, toilets and all. Though you can now have up to three different save files instead of just the one.

I have a question I went to go and get crackdown and I noticed something on the buy item a little 1 in the corner I look for what that little 1 ment it was plus tax? so do I actually have to pay tax on this if so it's not free if not then why is that items line on there I live in Washington state BTW for reference.

Edited: nevermind just got crackdown paid with MS points and balance didn't seem to got down

I'll totally download both those games.

Just a reminder, even if you don't have the space or already have the disc, it's prudent to start the download anyway so that it's in your history forever (if you lose your disc or eventually clear up some hard drive space).

I was happy that DR 2 will be free, then I remembered I bought it on Steam.

Damn you Steam and your amazing sales. I have too many games on Steam that I've never touched
