Hulu Plus Possibly Coming to Xbox 360 on Friday
Hulu Plus may be coming to Xbox Live soon--like, in two days “soon” soon. Joystiq has obtained what it believes to be an authentic scan of the upcoming June issue of Official Xbox Magazine, and in the pages, the rag straight-up states that the service will hit April 29. That's a date that jives with what Microsoft has said in the past, as Kinect-enabled Hulu Plus has always been slated for an eventual “spring” 2011 release.
Microsoft has not commented on the April 29 date as of yet.
Interestingly, Microsoft will be some major marketing dollars behind the launch, so says the magazine. For a solid month, the publisher will reportedly be randomly giving out prizes like free Xbox 360 bundles or resort trips to users of the service. I guess that’s neat, but it’s not like you don’t already have a 360, right?
Unless, of course, your chance to win isn’t just tied to you using the service on your 360--that is unclear at the moment. Chances are we'll know soon enough. April 29 is only two days away.

" @lacke said:Nope." US only I guess. "Doesn't the magical land of Canadia also get Hulu? "
I'm actually really happy about this. I got rid of cable over a year ago and have been using Netflix and Hulu as my main source since so being able to watch Hulu on my 360 instead of on my PC will be awesome.
Seems like MS is putting a lot of dollars into development and marketing of those.kind of services like netflix, huluand the like. That is good for you us guys, but really dice for the rest of us international users. I guess that least 50% of the xb live subscribers are non us. We are paying the same for the service but not getting the and content. I understand why, but I still feel ripped off. I wish they used more money on different stuff that gained the whole lot.
Oh god... is Brad Nicholson.... GHOSTPOSTING?
" Oh god... is Brad Nicholson.... GHOSTPOSTING? "Haha, he has posted a couple of news stories recently.
Trust me... Hulu Plus is actually Hulu Minus... You'll get less content actually available to stream to your TV/xbox then you can on the PC. Nothing on my instant queue was available to me to stream to a television versus the PC earlier this year when I trialed Hulu +.
Yet another crap service that I'll have to scroll past ads and buttons for in the crappy 360 interface. I tried to watch something on Hulu once, but after two minutes its said I needed to join and pay them a subscription fee to watch more. So I said "fuck it" and went to EZTV and downloaded it.
I also have to echo the statements of the international and non-USA users here.
It's nice that Microsoft is getting these kinds of services for 360 but really it does seem a bit lop-sided.
The US seems to get a lot of extra stuff that the UK never gets.
We pay more in some cases because of currency conversion rates etc... and get less content.
Although I heard a rumour that the BBC iPlayer was meant to be coming to 360 but because Microsoft wanted it to be a Gold Members only thing... and with the BBC being paid for already by the public through a TV licence... the BBC wouldn't allow them to charge for access to it and it was dropped all together.

"It's not just MS that is getting in the way of that, to be fair. Like the example you gave, a lot of time it's a lack of options and cooperation from the other side as well as Microsoft's "our way or the high way" approach.
If Microsoft really wanted that service... which I might add every other platform has, as its currently available on Wii and PS3, then they would have just allowed it to silver and gold members alike.
I really do strongly feel that Microsoft view is that if you don't live in the USA then you aren't part of our long-term plans for the 360... if you don't like it... move to the USA or buy a PS3, we don't care.
I work in a video games store and I can tell you, the Microsoft rep is woeful. He'll come in and say things like... "No news for you this week, nothing happening... Check the upcoming E3 for any new announcements... oh and Forza 4 will be the next Kinect game... Kinect broke world records you know"... its like he has NOTHING to tell us of any merit. Meanwhile the PS3 guy comes in with a laptop and a wealth of videos and information on upcoming stuff for the PSN.
To be fair, Sky is not available in the US on Xbox live. That would be a nice service here.
It's hard to put ALL the blame on Microsoft for not offering all of these add-ons in all countries. I imagine that said companies (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, etc.) are creating a portion of the limitation -- not solely Microsoft.
