    So here's how it goes

My 360 is connected to my laptop (XP) which in turn is wirelessly connected to the router, and if i turn on the PC before the 360 it will not connect to live. when i do a PC connection test, on the dashboard, "network" is fine but network to PC is not, and it asks me to select a PC from the list, but it is not there.

Also i have tried with a different (vista) laptop and it works fine, and i have the same problem on other networks, so i reckon it's to do with the computer.

Whereas, if the 360 is on when i turn on my computer it works fine

    ???????????????????????????

You're 360 and PC have become self aware and are now teaming up to slowly drive you insane.
    In short, you're screwed....

I remember one time what would happen is that if I turned my 360 on the internet would automaticly go out. The 360 does funky things

Maybe the 360 latches on to the proper connection before your computer swipes the one it wants.  The computer then takes the next available spot to connect to the internet.  Your 360 most likely isn't doing that, taking the next available connection.  It's looking for specific parameters that get taken if your PC is booted up first.

    That's my guess
