Hi guys ! This is my first time post so sorry if I'm not using correct protocol.

My problem is my xbox is having an issues downloading forza which I purchased digitally so I was wondering if I could go buy the disk version and install that then return it to the store or sell it.

My Xbox keeps telling me that it is a network issue but I only seem to be having it with forza .

If it's anything like how the 360 works then no that plan won't work. The system would see those as two different executables. One for a digital download and the other for an installed disc.

Disconnect from the internet, then try installing while still disconnected. It seems to be a solution for some people.

That did not work on the 360, it's lame, but I really don't know about now.

According to jeff on the Xbox stream that should work. However if it doesn't blame him not me :P

Can anybody confirm this actually works? I mean aside from Jeff on the stream, I haven´t heard anybody talk about this.

Would be great if I could just borrow discs from people and then buy the game online. My download speeds suck and these games are BIG!

Thanks guys for the replies. It Just so happened that before I went to work this morning i restarted the download ( In Hope ) and it downloaded !!

Im still sort of keen to try out the disk and digital mixup sort of thing, would make it easier for places with slower download speeds.

I have a bunch of games rented from GameFly that have installed on my system. If I try to start one of those games without the disk, it offers to take me to the store to purchase the game so I'm assuming that installing off a disk and just activating the install from the store digitally will work fine.

Personally this didn't work for me but initially it looked like it was going to.

I am keen to go all digital but my internet isn't brilliant, so I installed my brother's disk-based copy first then went to start it without the disk in the tray. It popped up with a message basically saying I needed to get a licence and pointed me to the XBL store. I paid my £45, expecting it to basically "unlock" the game, but it instead deleted my installed data and downloaded the whole 32GB anyway! Took two full days to complete. Won't be making the same mistake twice, lol

I had Call of Duty Ghosts installed from disc and just bought the digital copy and it launched no problem after a small patch.

Yeah it will work. (that was part of the whole plan they had in place. to just go to the store and get a disk so you would not have to download the digital game, even if it turned into a digital game only after the install.)

Yeah, Microsoft themselves have confirmed that this works. Albert Penello confirmed it on Twitter before launch. Haven't tried it personally!

So, to be clear... You can purchase the disc, purchase it digital, then return the disc and it will still be playable?
