Microsoft are in cahoots with doritos to destroy your freedom. They're already testing their dastardly DRM methods in the wild.

If two people try to watch a movie or play a game in the same room without adequate licenses and snack based goods the kinect will ensure the same happens to you.

I love that Doritos and Moutain Dew are now the official snack foods of gamerdom.

I imagine that picture was taken in the theater where the Microsoft conference is taking place, thus the abundance of green lighting.

Also this promotion is amazing and makes me hope that Major Nelson will be forced to promote it and then we can make silly photoshops of him as the Lord of Doritos.

How did gamers become associated with this shitty junk food? I mean if you offer me a Dorito, I could take it or leave it, but regular mountain dew? No thank you, sir. Where is my Goldfish Cracker and Barq's promotion?

How is this different then what Sony did with Subway?

The new Kinect can tell if you have Dorito dust on your face/fingers and gives you bonus Gamerscore. Heard it here first.

It's not. But god damn, this is the last xbox we're going to see. It's not even a prediction at this point. Microsoft will exit the home console war after this gen. They're talking the exact same paradigm at E3 this year as they've done the past 7 years.

The elephant in the room is that they have straight up built a less powerful gaming console than Sony. Significantly so. Microsoft has followed video game trends since the beginning, it has never led them. Ever. I'm talking way back even on Windows 95. They capitalize on opportunity instead of innovate. In other words, they are doomed. They had enough money to launch a cool new console 2 gens ago and at that point it was easy pickings with only 2 other companies in the market.

Video games are changing and xbox team does not know where they're headed. They are hedging bets on a fucking stereoscopic camera, gimme a break. They sat down and decided that pumping money in to marketing will ultimately win out in the console war. Were these guys not alive in the 1990's? At the end of the day, people are going to buy the good games.

Hardware is static. The xbone ain't getting more powerful than those specs you see. It's going to matter at launch and its going to matter mid/late gen when devs are trying to drain every last bit of processing out of the machine. They're not going to be able to make things look as nice on xbox than on PS4. Controlling video games by waving around your hands is not going to bridge that gap.

A tiny bit of self-awareness would have went a long way in this campaign. Is one of the requirements to work in advertising living in a bubble?

If I was giving over 1000 $500 things away, I'd tell people. This could be a guaranteed pre-order and still match with what the flyer says. I of course don't care it's Doritos and Dew, it's a promotion from two very popular snack foods that clearly have done very well partnering with gaming.

Funny. I was actually listening to the June 10, 2008 podcast today, which also discusses Mountain Dew flavoured Doritos and Doritos flavoured Mountain Dew.
