I think they took the "box" part of the name a little too literally.
Also the two tone thing is shit. It's the boringness of the design that is the worst.

Reminds me a bit of the original NES with its very rigid square design and angled edges. That or a stereo receiver thing. Yeah, it's kinda boring actually but who cares, it doesn't have a dumb shape that makes it hard to stack or place in your living room.
Hmm, It seem like a pretty neutral and average design to me. It's a rectangle. I neither love it or hate it. The cross tone thing is a questionable choice, but it's not outright offensive to the eyes in my opinion.
I really like the design. It looks cool and powerful yet not over the top. The only thing that puzzles me is, looking at it I have no idea how to turn that thing on (or off). Where is the effin power button?

If I had to guess, the X on the right is capacitive touch or something.
I like the way it looks, although I'm not a fan of MS abandoning the vertical standing position for the Xbox One.
Anyways, I wouldn't put much stalk into what gamers think is good design. Particularly PC gamers; they (including me at a time) are the worst. This is what they want their hardware to look like:
Considering the only thing to talk about since the reveal is how it looks, I will comment on it. I also mentioned that I thought it could be a great piece of hardware, but the only thing to go on is how it looks for now.
I barely hear anyone moaning about the look. The name and everything else?........oh boy.
And I barely hear any complaints about the name.
I love the look of the thing. I think the rounded edges of a PS3 or 360 make the design seem childish... like its a video game console, not a media centre. With this new look it makes the Xbox look like a more sophisticated piece of hardware that I would not be ashamed to have on display under my TV. Plus, the wife likes the look of the device and not having to worry about that side of the purchase is important to me.
It looks like a MediaCenter PC with an XBOX label. They are still trying to sneak it into the living room. It even runs fucking Windows. I'm ok with it. I am too old to have something that looks like a toy or too hipster in the middle of my living room.
When XBOX TWO comes out, gamers will be in their 60s and it will have giant lit up buttons and remind you to take your medicine.
Its pretty plain and not worth the strong reaction, but its too bad that when there are sexy and slick PC games cases out there that are designed to look great in a living room, MS couldn't at least approximate something like that. Bear in mind, however, that those PC cases are all expensive brushed aluminum and cost $200 by themselves so I'm sure with the price constraints designing a console is harder than we would assume.
I think the bar for the physical console for Microsoft is set at, "system I put on my self and it doesn't break randomly"
that new controller is more than I had hoped for. It looks great. I FUCKING LOVE what they are saying about 2x bump to precision and better centering on the analog sticks. I like the trigger sensitivity bumps. I've also heard they took latency seriously, but we shall see. The digital pad still looks like ass but what are you going to do. patents.
I'm curious if they will sell a PC receiver and driver combo for the controller.
The D-pad looks much better than the 360's pad was, for sure... I don't think it looks like ass at all. I'm not a fan of the disconnected buttons on sony's pads... makes doing quarter circles and whatnot more difficult. The Xbox One controller's D-pad is giving me a very classic Nintendo d-pad vibe (NES, SNES, N64) which is good. I prefer those old Nintendo D-pads over the Playstation D-pads any day.
I definitely agree with the rest of what you're saying though. The bumpers also look like they'll be better than they were on the 360's pad, which is a plus.
I think Microsoft will definitely sell a PC version of this controller at some point. The 360 pad was a huge success on the PC, and this controller looks to be improved in every single way, so PC gamers are likely to eat it up as well. They'll make far too much money off of it just by allowing it to be used on a computer, so obviously they'll captialize on the PC gamer market. I doubt we'll see it at the Xbox One's launch, though.

I think from this angle most people would agree the Kinect Sensor looks pretty sexy.
I love how jeff is in the background of that picture.
Ha, yeah. Noticed that right away. Photobombing Jeff...
HEY GUYS!!!!!!!! THE NEW SYSTEM LOOKS LIKE SHIT!!!!!!!!
I can understand the confusion for the OP, but when I've said that in the last two days, I wasn't saying anything about aesthetics having turd-like qualities, I was saying the system appears to be a turd (from a functionality and gameplay perspective).
The worst thing I can say about the look is that it looks dull, uninspired, and inoffensive, like my cable box. And exactly like my cable box, I don't care what it looks like.

NO IT LOOKS FUCKING TERRIBLE HAVEN'T YOU HEARD YET!?!?!?!?!?
@megabite10164: Ha! That's totally Jeff standing in the background using Skype on his iPad.
I like the fact that I noticed Jeff in the background before even looking at the Kinect 2.
Anyways, the Xbox One is gigantic and I have no interest in getting one.

The Xbox 1 was/is also pretty gigantic. So basically what I'm saying is, I have no idea to what console you're referring. This is why the name is terrible.

Well clean out your ears then old man!
