Poll: So how will we abbreviate the Xbox One? (404 votes)

Xbox 1 3%
X1 27%
XOne/X-One/X One 17%
One 6%
Xbox 36%
Other 24%

Imagine you're discussing an upcoming Xbox One game on the forums, or just talking about the console in general. How will you refer to it when not spelling out "Xbox One" in full? Obviously you're not forced to a single choice.

The PS4 is pretty obvious, following tradition from previous versions of PlayStation consoles. This silly name leaves some room for ambiguity though.

I've seen X360 sometimes, so X1?

#4 Posted by Raven10 (1780 posts) -

Definitely just One. Just like I called the Xbox 360 the 360.

#5 Posted by AngelN7 (2970 posts) -

X01

#6 Posted by Klei (1768 posts) -

I always called the xbox and xbox 360 simply '' xbox ''. And I will keep doing it, since the 360 will become irrelevant in a couple of months, the xbox one will be the one to take the mantle of the '' xbox ''.

Calling it "One" will end up sounding like an Abbott and Costello routine:

"So I was playing One yesterday..."

"One what?"

"The One gaming console."

"Which one?"

"My One."

"No, which console?"

"I just told you which one!"

"That's what I'd like to know!"

I didn't think of it until I saw it here, but I'm on board with the XBone.

'X1' is better than 'Xbox' in every conceivable way. It's cooler, shorter, unambiguous and sounds way more like a spaceship or a killer robot.

The Xbone.

Xbone. It sounds like a Bone Thugs n Harmony member. In fact over time it'll probably be shortened to just Bone. The kids will refer to playing games as boning.

X1 has a pretty nice ring to it. It sounds like it could have been the name of some piece of 80s consumer a/v hardware too, so it has that going for it.

I also like Xone, pronounced, "zone". So like you could be like, "I'm all in the [insert television show] Xone right now", or "Hang on, I'm using my Kinect to order a P'zone".

The correct answer is Xbone

#43 Posted by DoctorTran (1562 posts) -

If we're talking about the different generations of Xbox's then I vote X1... however to me. Xbox is an xbox is an xbox.

Xbone is good.

DA BONE, YO!

In terms of the database, it's XONE.

Xbox. The original Xbox is just that, the original Xbox... or first Xbox. Really, how often does that system come up in conversation anyway?

#49 Posted by WolfHazard (471 posts) -

Xbox Neo

#50 Posted by Reisz (1491 posts) -

I'm still all for Xbox 25 from that exclusive under seat, pre-conference reveal.

otherwise though:

2001: Old Xbox

2005: 360

2013: XBOX
