So gamers by used games because, even if it's a savings of $5, that can mean the difference between getting a game or not. Gamers also tend to trade in old games to buy new games. I did it way more when I was younger but I do occasionally trade games I never intend on playing again.
With that being said I don't think there is anything wrong with Microsoft and Sony putting in measures to get some of the money from used games sales. Whether it's Gamestop, or whoever, paying a fee to Microsoft and Sony for the right to resell their games or whether it's Gamestop paying a small fee to unlicense a game it could help to keep more studios open and the creators getting the money they deserve.
Problems arise however when it comes to loaning your friends games. Part of me believes that the next gen will be the end of loaning games but perhaps both manufactures can make it so the original purchasers can give up their "license" so their friends can play those games.
