Early 2017. If they can tighten up some of the more frustrating parts of the game, as well as uprezz to 1080p/60fps, we are in for a 3D platforming renaissance next year, with this, Yooka-Laylee, and hopefully A Hat in Time!

The original developers are handling the HD remaster, rather than outsourcing it to another studio as is the norm for these things. This is looking like a real labour of love.

I think Phil Spencer said this is his favorite game he ever worked on so it isn't THAT shocking but it is still very cool.

@hippie_genocide: honestly, even as a huge fan, I can admit that it's a fairly simple (though challenging) platformer. however, it's the setting and the music that make it so special, it's like Nightmare Before Christmas meets Mardi Gras. It's also very tongue in cheek, with Vince delivering deadpan one liners in response to most things that happen the game, and it just adds to the charm. I'm excited to see it gain a new audience.

@asko25: very underrated soundtrack.

Honestly there are a fair number of problems with the game, chief among them that there isn't enough cool stuff to do with your voodoo powers (they mainly serve as a screen clearing bomb type attack) so I kind of wish this was more a remake like Ratchet and Clank than a remaster, but I will take what I can get.

What we all REALLY want is Panzer Dragoon Orta remastered though. That is probably the one original Xbox only game that would benefit most from a fresh coat of paint and new release.

Fuck yes. This was one of my favourite original Xbox games, although I wonder how well it'll hold up. Still, it's cool to Microsoft do something weird.
