Capturing enemies alive?

After I have captured an enemy one time do I need to do it again ? Is the only advantage getting their weapons? I only ask because the is the only part of this combat that doesn't seem amazing to me , more of a hassle.

Yes, the "only" advantage is getting their weapons, which is a pretty big advantage until you've got your squad fully kitted out in Plasma gear.
