I'm surprised the site has no coverage of this. There is also no DLC listed on the XCOM page as of this posting. There is very little coverage of this across the board on the interwebs.

The classic tactical turn-based combat returns in this modern re-imagining of X-COM: UFO Defense.
New DLC "Slinghot" hits December 4th, Cost $6.99 (US)
too expensive for such paltry gameplay content.
Might buy it when it is 75% off but for now 8,5 usd (6,5 eur) for only 3 maps is pathetic. Hope it sells really poor in Steam.
It's terrible DLC for the content that it adds to the price, but I bought it because I'm an X-Com whore. I really just bought it for the new hats and armour to put my guys in. I hated how limited the selection was for the default stuff.
@crusader8463: If Valve has taught us anything it's to never doubt the lengths some will go for hats.

i heard you have to start a new game to play it, which is kind of a bummer
Wait, even if you just want to put helmets and stuff on your guys?
Just tested for you, and it appears that if you install the DLC it won't even let you load the save. So if you are in a game you want to finish you may want to wait.

I will do just that.
I played the "Slingshot" mission. It's nothing more than an escort mission on cooler-than-usual map. It's not that much cooler though, but it has personality that other maps lack. The one thing that separates it from other escort missions is a single chrysalid. At the end, the dude you escort joins your team. He is really high ranking, and has a unique look.
The hats a pretty cool, though.

@BoG so would you say wait for a sale to pick this up? Either way that sounds kinda disappointing, especially for the price they are charging.
It's hard for me to say no. It's more XCOM. If you want to play through the game again, this is an excuse. At 50% off, I don't see why you wouldn't buy it. Just don't go in with high expectations.
@BoG: Alright then. Waiting until the holiday sale, for whatever day XCOM is extra discounted, then buying this DLC.
It sounds like this is the Civ 5 DLC debacle all over again, in that they're asking for like $5+ for something that only SLIGHTLY changes the game. It kinda sucks that the DLC standard is "the only way it costs less than 5 bucks is if it is purely cosmetic". This kind of DLC should really be like $4, and the Civ 5 DLC civs should've been like $3. But publishers seem to have set this standard where all DLC costs about 66% more than it really should.
As a counterexample, the Borderlands DLC was $10 a piece, and contained new maps, new writing, new voice acting, new items, new (or at least reskinned) character models, new music. Multiples of all of that shit. Fair.
From what you've described, it sounds like this has like 1-2 of each of those things, yet is still pretty close to $10. I want to see it, but no way am I giving 2K the asking price.
I've read opinions on the missions, but can anyone tell me what it adds to the customization front. I'm planning to play through Enemy Unknown finally over the weekend in bouts between studying for finals. I know it's a little bit silly but from what little I've played my favorite part of the game has been customizing my dudes. Is it just hats or does it add armors and weapons?

I heard talk of new armor and weapons.
I'm more curious if those helmets, weapons, and armor requires a new game or if that's just the story missions. Like you. I really enjoy making my own little alien hunters, but don't really want to start a new game again just to get some additional cosmetic options. Mostly just on principle. Story content I get needing a fresh game, but armor and weapons should just plug right in.
