I have had the download version XCOM pre-ordered on Amazon for a while now but I feel like I should get the disc version. Anyone know if XCOM uses steam? I don't know if it'd be worth it to get the retail version when it's $59.99 and the version I'm getting is $43.99. I kind of feel like I need a real version of this game.

I would assume it would be the same as Civ V; any copy you get will come with a steam code that needs to be activated.

@Jams: From the official forums, Steamworks (box copies require steam)

oh okay, thanks. I bought Civ V from steam so I didn't know that. I think I'll just stick with the digital version if that's the case.

I bought the physical edition because it comes with a load of extras, like a patch and "Multi-Monitor Desktop" I dont know if they mean Wallpapers, or if they mean Multi-Monitor Support or what.

@Jams: Yah, at least thats what I was lead to believe by this:

    • Fold out poster of the XCOM base
    • Art book detailing the conceptual journey of re-imagining the classic
    • Patch of the XCOM "Vigilo/Confido" insignia
    • Digital bonus items including multi-monitor desktops, soundtrack, and more
