I've lost 3 countries and have had the alien base as an option for a week or so now (in game). I've heard multiple instances of people restarting, but im unsure of when i should view the game as a sunk cost? Should I start over or keep going? i have all laser weapons,1 plasma rifle, and 3 sets of titan armor.

I think I've given up, I always tell myself I'm gonna go and finish that last mission but I think it's impossible at this point without restarting a new game.

It's not that bad at all. If you already have all lasers, some plasma and titan armors you're ready for the Alien Base.

Unless you're going in with 6 rookies of course.

np man. Only advice I can impart, is if you haven't already get a foundry and build some of the SHIVs

@The_Drizzle: 3 countries is a perfectly manageable situation and nothing really to sweat over, keep going (on impossible for example you loose 3-4 countries on the first month no matter what, it's a guarantee) The times to restart are when you actually fail and it's game over, or for example if all your soldiers are dead you have no money and half the countries have already pulled out.

@Pr1mus: If done early enough (second month) alien base is doable with a mix of standard/laser weapons and some carpacre armors

I lost all but four guys and am one country away from game over. However, I've been in this state for over a month and things just keep improving. In other words it ain't over till it's over.
