Extraterrestrials appear in many video games in a variety of styles. Sometimes they're evil, sometimes they're benevolent, and sometimes they're very similar to humans.
This concept occurs in many RPGs and Sci-Fi games. The Ancient Advanced Civilization Technology is often a giant weapon (Halo Rings, Giant of Babil, etc.) that becomes a major plot focus in the stories of these games.
Artificial life-forms ("robots") specifically designed to mimic the appearance of human beings. Although this is a male-specific term, with female-looking machines actually being "gynoids", the term "android" is generally used universally in video games.
In some games, usually RPGs, they have a boss of the game to be a angel or appearance of an angelic-like being.
Anthropomorphism is the concept of an object, concept or character that has human qualities or traits, such as speech, a level of intelligence similar or higher than a human's and self consciousness. "Anthro" means "of human" and related to the concept of humanity.
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, commonly refers to the programmed behaviors of NPCs in a game, whether it's the fact that a soldier takes cover behind a wall in Gears of War, or that townspeople cheer upon your arrival to their village in Fable.
Backtracking is the act of navigating through previously explored areas, usually for the purpose of progressing in an objective-based adventure game. Players who are lost may also backtrack to reorient themselves.

The concept of moving blocks around to certain areas such as highlighted squares, or switches, or in order to get past a maze.
Bosses are enemies that fight you at the end of a level or at a significant point in the story.
A boss fight is a culminating challenge that pits the player against one or more enemies representing a greater threat and/or difficulty than those previously faced. These scenarios typically feature unique antagonists.
Episodic games that were left incomplete due to the project being halted or cancelled before the final episode could be released.
Hand-drawn or computer-generated animation.
Videogames with extreme or controversial content will often be altered for release in certain countries, usually to comply with local laws or prevent cultural misunderstandings.
While modern chemistry defines 118 atomic elements, video games more often deal with classical elements as described in ancient philosophy, mainly fire, water, earth, and air. In many games, each element is stronger against certain elements, but weaker against others.
Typically found in fighting games, combos are a series of strung-together moves.
The turn-based battle system used in Final Fantasy X.
Law makers and fat cats who will sell the population down the river just to gain more power and money.
An attack that does more damage than usual, usually affected by random chance and some sort of modifier.
The head of a group of devout people who follow their crazy beliefs. Can often be dangerous.
Cults don't necessarily have to be evil or out to destroy the world, but in video games it's usually safe to assume so.
A non-interactive sequence within a game most often used for plot advancement.
The ability to pause a story scene. This avoids missing plot points if you are interrupted or take a break, or let's you call someone to show off a game's FMV or real time animation.
An organism consisting of both natural and artificial systems.
A specific number that briefly floats above an enemy after an attack which displays the exact amount of damage the attack has done.
A destructible environment means the player has the ability to destroy his/her surroundings. This allows players to use the environment to their advantage.
