Yakuza 3 has a higher metacritic score than FFIIIX is this:

A: Weird.
B: Wrong.
C: Funny.

C, it does depend on how reviews each game got.

#3 Posted by toorima (200 posts) -

d: completely normal seeing that reviews are based on opinion and the gameplay in those games are pretty different.

FFXIII got a lot more reviews though..Yakuza 3 has like 8.

Alright, your first problem right off the bat is that your comparing two completely different games in completely different genres, although that's a bit too obvious. They're are a multitude of reasons why Final Fantasy XIII is scoring 8's and 7's, but since were not actually reading reviews here and comparing metacritic scores, I guess general context is out of the picture.

Speaking of which, the metacritic scores are almost all import reviews, with only two reviews as of writing, that are actually based upon the recent English release. I will remind you has cut content and might be ticking off a few reviewers. ( Discussion here.)

The total number of Yakuza 3 reviews are 11.
The total number of Final Fantasy XIII reviews are 41.

So yeah, disregarding the game as inferior to Final Fantasy XIII with your choice selections is difficult, not just logically but based upon how the site functions and what's up their right now. Thread is more confusing than humorous/sarcastic, which I think was what you were trying to achieve. I'm not exactly sure.

Edit: Forgot to mention Yakuza 3 is now tied at 82 with Final Fantasy XIII. If anyone cared. I guess that means something.
2nd edit: Really, "IIIX". We gotta be dyslexic with our roman numerals? I can't believe I just noticed this now. Is it that hard to actually to get that right? Alright, I'm done.

The fuck is IIIX?

C funny. And well Yakuza 3 is way better then FF13

Not really. Final Fantasy has used up it's get-a-good-review-despite-the-game-being-bad  quota for years now. It's about  time it got some critique

never heard of FFIIIX, is it some sort of thing like X-2?

#16 Posted by Demyx (3237 posts) -

Yeah, its metacritic so.....

#17 Posted by OldSnake (16 posts) -

All of the above.

It's weird because you know, it's Final Fantasy and they've been consistently in the 90's since FFVII

It's wrong because well, I blame Microsoft :P

Its Funny because Final Fantasy XIII probably had 3x the budget Yakuza 3 did.

IIIX? Sorry, never heard of it.

Yakuza would have gotten higher if they didn't cut the hostess, mahjong and shoji and other stuff. That stuff was essentially what you did with the game once the story was done with, and it was one of the most awesome parts of the second game. Quite sad that it's gone, considering how much more improved everything else is.

As for the comparison, i find this pretty funny, considering that i found the Yakuza games to be a lot like an FF game with a Yakuza theme, and maybe a bit of Metal Gear-ness.

FFIIIX is actually an indie game I've been making about a young man named Florence Faust who tries to find a way to go back in time to 7 o'clock to save his girlfriend's life, but along the way, he sees the true purpose of death, and wonders whether he should save his girlfriend who he holds so dear, or if he should simply let the world be.

It's coming this June on Steam and XBLA, and is greatly inspired by Braid, and yes, it's a hell of a lot better than Yakuza 3.

F.  It's Metacritic. Only number obsessed people use it.

All of the above. I'm not an FF strict fanboy, but I've played most of them (I only beat only 1, 7 and 8). None of the coverage I've seen over the past few years has gotten me excited for FFXIII at all - AT ALL.

I'm not surprised Jeff was politely bashing on it in this week's podcast (he seemed like he did his best to hold back his venom) (does he like any JRPG aside from the Persona series?), but the fact that Brad was so non-plused kinda killed what little "new game release excitement" that I'd built up over the last 2 months.

Not surprised Yakuza 3 got a higher score. There's just so much more to do and see in Yakuza 3.

I find none of those answers applicable.

It's obvious which game is made better.

That's a weird way of writing Final Fantasy VII...
