New trailer for Yakuza 5. Shows off about a billion new features, minigames, etc.

Game will include taxi driving/racing, baseball, fighting, dance battles, card playing, dating, Sega arcade emulation (Full VF2 and Drum Master playable in game), and so much more. Full list here of what was revealed.

There's a story trailer too that gets a little spoilery.

This will be the best game in every genre when it comes out.

I've never wanted a game to come to NA so hard in my life. Sega of America posted pictures of the booth to it's Facebook/Twitter and referred to it as Yakuza 5, so that's probably a good sign. Probably not though.

NO WAY. Hnnnngh. The only game I'm more hyped for is Ys Celceta and that's because I get it next week.

I think I'm more hype for Yakuza 5 now after seeing dance battles and fighting bears.

I love the Yakuza series, but man I'm wishing for some changes to be made. While playing Sleeping Dogs I kinda secretly wished that the Yakuza series world would have the openness of that game.

The GIF of that is basically the best part from the GAF thread on these trailers, as well as the others produced in its wake. (Click to reveal animation, apparently? Last one is okay, too.)

Wasn't the first Yakuza game super-serious? Like a serious mafia game?

    How did this even happen?

I don't know why I get so excited for Yakuza but goddammit, I'm so excited for Yakuza. I even have a fresh copy of the first one coming in the mail. That second one is really fucking hard to find though at a remotely reasonable price. I will buy new packaged retail games this year for significantly less.

Finally, a game where I can buy without obliquely saying "I am playing an idol simulator".

@MikkaQ: There's a HD collection of the first two games supposedly set to release this year.

Needless to say if this game is released outside of Japan I'll get it.

I hope that makes it stateside, in a perfect world they'd use the Japanese voice tracks in Yakuza simply because we've grown accustomed to those voices in the 4 other games.

The Yakuza series does takes itself very serious for the most part. Having said that, there's plenty of deliberately goofy stuff at the side and it feels even more goofy given the seriousness of the main story line. Which is exactly why I love this series and this one looks like it's cranking up the tone up to eleven which is even better. It's not exactly a super innovative series but it does what it does very well. Mostly.

The storyline never stopped being super serious.  Some of the side stuff is incredibly goofy though.  It's kinda like GTA in that regards.

The Yakuza games have a very similiar tone to the MGS games. At times they can be very serious, but sometimes they just lose it and go all anime. The first game was no exception.

As for Yakuza 5, I like that there's now 5 cities, although I dont like that they're increasing the number of protagonists. I felt it was quite redundant in Yakuza 4 since they're fighting styles werent all that different. Hopefully they differentiate them more this time round. As for the mini-game there better be an option to fight wild animals without using guns, it just seems unfair otherwise. And correct me if i'm wrong but didnt they say they were using a new engine for this? It looks the same to me, graphicly. Not like that's a problem, since it still looks good. But this is one of Sega's last profitable franchises. You'd think they'd want to keep it up to date.

God... damnit. Even after being completely burned with that pile of rubbish Dead Souls, yet again do I find myself completely wooed by another Yakuza game. This looks like such a massive improvement over Yakuza 4 at that! Still gonna miss Tanimura as he was my favourite character to fight as, but still I'm just glad to see Saejima is still around and BEARHUNTINGWTFVIRTUAFIGHTER2FULLGAMEIDONTEVENBELIEVEWHATTHEFUCKISEVENGOINGONSEEMLESSBATTLESNOWTOOOMGAWESOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMME

And man, the editing in that side activities trailer is all over the place.

I really feel that they need to center the storyline back on Kazuma Kirya again and make it dark and personable. I hate to say it but they should maybe go the Sam Fisher route and kill Haruka to make the Yakuza storyline about revenge again like in the first two.

I've never played the first two Yakuza games and got in at 3. Found it OK with a few good ideas.... got Yakuza 4 for really cheap and somehow that one just clicked with me. Absolutely awesome game in every way. I am so looking forward to this never getting a US release.

Never played any of the Yakuza games, maybe i should give them a shot, they do look like good brawlers, i loved The Warriors.
