Poll: How do you pronounce Ys? (52 votes)

"yes" - Like the word "yes" 0%
"yis" - Almost like "yes" but with more of an "i" sound inbetween 13%
"Why Ess" - Pronouncing each letter fully 10%
"yees" - like "ease" but with a y at the beginning. 25%
Other 52%

I don't know how to use the international phonetic alphabet... so I went for more of a descriptive style of choices
Me personally, I pronounce it "yis" but it's always sounded incorrect to me.

Yees.

Long E sound with a plural S on the end.

"EEs"

Don't pronounce the Y as a consonant.

Ees I guess. Like Y is ee in Spanish.

Eas. Like "ease", but with an "s" instead of a "z".

Edit: Seems like that is the "official" Wikipedia pronunciation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ys_(series)

(Mouse over the symbols to get the gist of it).

You know when you get to the end of Fatal Fury and Terry Bogard goes "GEEEEEEEESE!" but it's really hard to make out with the sound quality so it just sounds like he's saying "EEEEEEEEEEEES"

Like that.

I thought is was Ease or Esse. No Y sound at all.

Had to vote other since the proper pronunciation was not an option. Ravenlight got it right on.

Imagine "east", but without the "t".

A long "e" and then a short "s".

Like "east" only minus the "t". Kinda.

This is a pretty accurate description of how I say it, and it's the way I hear most people familiar with the franchise say it.
