    to endworld and beyond!

Zeno Clash 2 is a sequel to a game that I assumed would never get a sequel, because it was so goddamn weird and surrealistic and crazy. Lucky for me and the 499 other people who enjoyed it, it did! and luckily it's also pretty good.

the game is a first person brawler with weird weapons from time to time, though it's never required, unlike in the first game where there were forced shooting sequences.

So, at the end of the first game, Father-Mother is put into a jail by the one they call Golem; the jail is the first of it's kind in the prehistoric punk city of Halstedom in the strange land called Zenozoik. The main character, Ghat, teams up with one of his sisters (Rimat, who was an enemy in the first game), to get Father-Mother out of jail.

This is what passes for a boat in Zenozoik...

Of course, it gets much crazier than that... the main appeal of the game is the art style, which is still incredible, even after an engine change (source to UE3) and the character design is similarly still incredibly disturbing in the best way possible.

The original game was linear, and this has changed to a more open world styled game, with side quests. This doesn't mean it's as expansive as Skyrim or even something like Dead Island, however. The gameplay is more complicated than the first game, which was quite easy once you got it down; This stays pretty hard without feeling cheap most of the time. You can recruit allies, and Rimat stays with you the entire game, which is helpful when there are 8 dudes comin at ya. The music is still amazing, and the VA is... better than it was in the original. Not to say there aren't some clunky line reads, but it's more dynamic and there are actually more than 4 people who talk to you without yelling at you.

good thing this is just stone, otherwise eye would have a toeugh time of it

The game isn't perfect, however. It's quite glitchy at times, breaking at a few occasions, like how I got stuck in a road once. The gameplay also has some weird parts to it, hitboxes being weird and what not. Similarly, the story has some pacing problems... and some of the bosses are quite tough if you don't have any buddies.

Otherwise, though, the game is top notch; the story goes in such an insane direction, but it actually makes sense. The gameplay is fun, the character and level design is worth the 20 dollars alone, and the music is SO GOOD. unf.

if you like cool art and cool games and cool fist sound effects, get this, and support an awesome developer.

(also some people have weird FOV issues, I guess I should mention this, but the devs are working on fixing it)

From the quick-look this seemed sort of interesting. Would it be possible to just jump right into this one or should you play the first one first? This might be something I actively look for in future steam sales. A first person game with juggle combos seems like the right kind of weird.

I would definitely recommend playing the first one, as it sets the tone for the world, as well as being pretty great in it's own right.

Video Review:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCoACw4cu1g Zeno Clash II, like its predecessor, is completely and totally absurd. It's the kind of game where a two-headed baboon is mounted on a giant buzzard that vomits fireballs while laser beams chase you across a giant bridge. Yeah, it's that kind of spontaneous absurdity that holds this brawler together to push you through the 8 hour campaign. Some might call it strange, some might call it bizarre; I just call it a pretty damn good first-pers...
