Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward European release.

WHINE WHINE WHINE... I'm just kidding.

Just a public service announcement if this has caught the attention of any European gamers. It'll be released over here courtesy of Rising Star Games on November 16th.

There is one fact that's not been made very clear surrounding the release though, and it's the primary reason for my post; the European version of the game does not include the option to select the English voice work.
(Edit for clarity: Game uses the Japanese dub rather than having the option to swap between the two).

Believe it's down to the fact it was licensed from Chunsoft rather than Aksys, either way THE MORE YOU KNOW right?
If this is of no concern for potential buyers, I highly recommend supporting the publisher. However, if this is a bit of a deal breaker for you, the US version is out today, is region free, and can be imported from various retailers.

"Licensing issues" being that Rising Star didn't want to pay Aksys to use their dub, only their translation.

Think their official line was; to try and get it out as close as possible to the US date, there wasn't time to go through the licensing process for the dub.

Though read into that however you want.

Couldn't help myself and totally chose to import from USA. Apparently the English voice acting is top notch.

So the EU version comes with Japanese voices and English subtitles?

Awesome, even better ^_^

@Superkenon:@PolygonSlayer
Yeah, sorry, Japanese audio still in, I'll update the OP to make it clear!

But we miss out on the English audio. The USA version will have both ENG and JAP audio. So its just another classic story of Europeans getting shafted for being European.

EU version = Higher prices, less features, later release date.

Personally I will be importing this game, with the lower US price im still cheaper off even after including shipping fees.

I know, I was more speaking from my own point of view, and kind of jokingly.

Basically I always have the original audio on for movies/games etc if I can, so for me it doesn't matter and I would prefer it instead of what I find to be most of the time horrible anime voice overs in English.

For people that want English voices, yeah it sucks, totally agree on that, but luckily enough it's region free on the Vita at least :)

The PSN Store update indicated it was published in all SCEE territories except Germany, so it should be available. If you can't find it on yours, you should leave a comment about in on the PS blog when the new store update post goes up later today.

@Jumbs: I bought mine on PSN when it came out here in the UK, so it should be there unless your in Germany as BlackLagoon mentioned.

I'm an idiot and was searching for "Zero", and it's just up under Virtue's Last Reward. Thanks guys!

@PolygonSlayer: Does the PSN version have voice acting? I am guessing not. Still, would like to confirm.

@Questionable: What prices are you talking about here? Where did you order your imported copy?

Yeah, full voice acting (in Japanese) for the PSN version. It's 1.2gb so it is the same as the one you buy on a cart.

@PolygonSlayer: I meant English. You still answered my question though. Cheers

If you want English voice acting you'll have to import an American retail copy. I got mine from http://videogamesplus.ca/.

@BlackLagoon: How much did you pay for yours? VGP seems to be selling VLR on Amazon for 30. Is the voice acting good by the way? Worth extra money?

#23 Posted by BlackLagoon (1457 posts) -

@zungerman090: I don't quite remember, think it was $35-$40 CAD including shipping. And the English dub is excellent, one of the best you'll hear using the usual bunch of dub actors. I thought it was worth it, but I also got it earlier than the EU release, and I didn't want to support the EU publisher releasing the game with less features than the NA one.

@BlackLagoon: Was the game slammed with import tax at all? Just worried about that bit. I am assuming that you live in UK too.

#25 Posted by BlackLagoon (1457 posts) -

@zungerman090: Sorry, don't live in the UK, but my package did get through customs without me being charged VAT.

#26 Posted by zungerman090 (311 posts) -

@BlackLagoon: Ah, well. The price plus shipping is equal to their price on Amazon UK. So not saving much by ordering it directly from their website. Thanks for the help though.
