If a zombie eats brains.... and you kill them by "destroying the brain or removing the head" wouldn't zombies be destroying themselves?  the virus wouldn't  really spread or would it???

I thought you only became a zombie if you got bitten, So the only time they "eat brains" is when they're hungry. I think it's balanced out :P

i dont think zombies "get hungry" i think there more like guppies and will eat intill they explode

If they don't get hungry what would be their motivation to constantly eat?

Failing digestive system.

Constant hunger.

They eat other people's brains, not their own, right? So how do you propose they would be destroying themselves? Unless everyone was a zombie and there was no other person to eat the brains of, then they would be destroying themselves.

Zombies don't feel hunger, to them, biting human flesh for blood is just a sort of drug addiction minus the emotions that come with it.

Is now the time to think about this!? They're already at my doorstep looking for the key into the house under my lawn gnome... Ah shit, they found it!

the zombie eating a brain is a very cliche thing and is seldom actually fact when zombie are present in a game or movie. But yes if a zombie at the head of a living guy and destoryed the brain then that person would not be a zombie cause the brains is what keeps the zombie moving.

Well maybe they're just trying to have fun! They don't always have to eat brains for a purpose.

Zombies don't eat brains. Never have. They don't need to eat because they have no working digestive system.

It's a common missconception that zombies moan "brains", without their lungs working actually, it's just the air thats pressed out of their lungs while moving. And they don't realy articulate what they are "saying". If you'd listen to a single zombie, you would realize that easily, but as they appear in groups most of the times, it's hard to hear that. It's just a trick of your mind, that you hear them asking for brain, but in the end, they just want to bite you.

And MattyFTM is totally right, they don't actually eat as their digestive system is not working. But the lower brainfunctions, still working in their undead heads, makes them shamble on and bite you anyway...
They don't want to harm you, they just don't know better. Those poor fellows... just blast their heads off :)

..... hahaha what? How can it be a misconception? Zombies aren't real, maybe if they were they'd love to eat some brains.

They aren't real, but in pretty much any fiction you'll find what Mexalen says is true.

OH! Okay, I see what you're saying now. Yes, if the brains were destroyed then the virus couldn't spread... Unless the story involves another way for the virus to spread.

thanks but i have seen at least 10 zombie/infected movies where they need sustenance in the for of brains like one of my all time favorite game Stubbz rebel without a pulse
