@itsahme: I don't think it's all that strange. I've always found anything mafia related to be extremely obnoxious and not entertaining or interesting in the slightest. I can see why the show is lauded the way it is, wouldn't try to take away from what people love about it just to be contrarian, but I'd never watch a single episode of it again.

Ive only seen a few clips of The Wire and havent been motivated to watch more. Its definitely not a world I want to spend 'entertainment time' in, and have long realised, and this may be a limitation of mine, that fiction I enjoy needs to have some characters in I actually 'like', as in would want to spend time with. Not just strong performances, and good writing thats socially accurate.

Also Jeff B. is right. Sopranos is more about the disfunction of American life more than the Italian-American mafia.

I just want to say that y'all are doing a great job. consistently putting out some of the most watchable stuff on the internet. Things have been tough, and I think we all miss some of the in-person vibes the site used to have (which is impossible for obvious reasons). I've been watching a lot of streams lately and even after everything Giant Bomb is still among the most enjoyable. I hope y'all aren't working too hard. I support the site because I want to support y'all, so make sure you prioritize yourself. Thanks again!

Yeah, I think that is why the show is aging so well and finding younger audiences. It kind of predicted American decline 15+ years ago and now we are living in it. In the final episode AJ Soprano says his dream is to go work for Donald Trump, and that aired in 2007. Prophetic.

Anyway, I loved the new film, especially that ending drop.

I desperately need a "Jeff and Jordan" or a "Gerstmann and Gwarsenio" music show, where they just bullshit about music for an hour. Could be as simple as Albummer! where they review a series of songs that they each brought to the table, could be a Best/Worst show like Ranking of Fighters/Evil... Or it could be a vs match like "Two Minutes to Debate Night" (but that would require a seperate host--probably Jeff B)... all I know is I needs it.

The holophonics are actually pretty good and got big on YouTube with a cover of Despacito that has almost 2 million views. I put on their Christmas stuff around the holiday.

I find that most prestige tv has characters that are not plesant and people hitch onto the one happiest or funniest character as a reason to watch as drama unfolds. Good acting and a story based on a book or something and you got 4 - 7 seasons of a show everyone talks about and most not in the zeighist at the time will hate without watching just due to word of mouth. Its like this in any medium thou.

Anime has the worst of this with anything pleasantly entertaining labled trash and compared to other work. No one watches tons of material anymore and just lables everything from the past perfect and new stuff generic garbage.

With videogames and movies you have people either with no time to invest or people who dig into a thing after several later shows copied their ideas and improved leaving people to say well that blank is just trash and my movie or game is better.
