I'm kind of curious about mid-career Rod too but album 13 is 1983's "Body Dreams" and the title alone is making me uncomfortable.

You know, the more old people that peaked in the 70's/80's/90's we cover on this show, the more I'm glad those celebs are retiring. Except for the stubborn ones like Rod, I suppose.

I confess there is some funny moments, but that is only because I have a sense of humor. Based on the comments I read and the video itself, I am likely the only Rod Stewart fan that is going to defend Sir Rod AND his 32nd studio album Tears of Hercules. My opinion is that ageism is still acceptable. The mildly humorous moments on here kept repeating ad nauseum '77 years old' and poking fun at the sexual lyrics on a few of the tracks as well as the All of My Days song which is a song about enjoying what days you have left in a sunshine and happiness "in a place called Gorgeous". This particular track is upbeat and fun... NOT as dismal as these hyper critical probably couldn't make a listenable album themselves folks would have you believe. I will not spend much more of my time to do a point by point counter to the bullshit and hate spewed about an iconic rock music legend and decent man who doesn't have to make an album to prove himself to anyone at this point; yet he did. Touchline and Hold on are beautiful songs that he cowrote and the title track is a beautiful song as well. These Are My People and Some Kind of Wonderful are cover songs that are a nice listen and far far from the "worst" I've ever heard. The songs with sexual lyrics seem to make these "young" haters, I mean reviewers, cringe because of the singers age. A singer can sing a song that tells a story it does not automatically mean the singer is the one doing what the story of the song is telling. Yet you seem to think that it is Mr. Stewart that has done what he is singing. Sorry to disappoint your delusion. He isn't. Stop hating. Stop being so blatantly ageist. There is much to like about these recordings; for starters Rod Stewart still has one of the best voices in recorded music. I will confess that my first few listens to this album I was a bit disappointed, After listening a few more times since its November 2021 release, I have gone from a bit disappointed to really appreciating it. It is a good listen, old dusty cringe worthy sexual content and all. There I made it through without bring up Sir Rod's dusty old scrotum. You all should try to as well, instead of sounding like you are in junior high school all grossed out about sexuality and old people and popping your pimples. Tears of Hercules is a masterpiece in comparison to this moronic, sporadically amusing 'album review'. For God sake people, start looking for the good for once. I looking forward to reviewing your albums some day. Ha Ha. LOL

@anthonyinsf: I too hope he sees it , unfortunately when it was posted he was in New York doing charity work for the Celtic Foundation that's ethos is typified by a determination to create opportunities for society’s most vulnerable and marginalised groups – principally, they address root causes of poverty by equipping individuals with the tools and means to reverse inequality -a meet and greet prize with Rod raised a phenomenal $80K on it's own ..I also hope the panels parents /grandparents see it as well I'm sure they will be really proud.

I have to wonder if these rather unpleasant people are just sick in the head or suffering some kind of mental breakdown. What other excuse can there be for this prolonged and un-necessary attack on a 77 year-old who has spent his entire life making millions happy with his music? If this was supposed to be comedy, then it failed... this was the kind of playground stuff popular with 12 year old boys who are obsessed with private parts. Pathetic, yes, but more significantly, spiteful, full of hate and ageist. Had they decided to focus on someone's race or sexuality they would have been in trouble. It seems hatred towards older people is okay.

What does it take to be reduced to stooping to these low levels in the hope of getting a laugh. What happened to these people in their lives to make them so twisted? What must their parents, grandparents and friends think? And the woman, particularly rancid and hate-filled, claims to have reproduced! I wonder what her daughter thinks of her participation in this? I certainly would not want her as my mother! She would like to raise funds to send Sir Rod off for assisted suicide. She accuses Rod of inappropriate behaviour, probably libellous, at least disgusting and ill-informed.

One of you was boasting about being paid for this dribble. Meanwhile Sir Rod earns more in one evening than what you are likely to ever earn in your lifetime. He is regularly paid $2.7million PER PERFORMANCE when he plays Las Vegas. In 2022 he continues to play arenas and stadiums all over the World. He holds the World record for concert attendance - 3.5million people at one show in Rio. He lives a life more full in one month than you probably do in a year - at 77 he still clubs, he eats out in the best restaurants, he travels the world, he parties, he lives his hobby and loves it. He has houses in LA, London, Miami, Ireland, France, Essex, Spain. His children adore him. He has been with the same woman for 24 years, and his two ex-wives and the mother of one of his children think so much of him that they sometimes stay with him at Christmas. He has been made Sir Rod for his services to music and to charity. Most of his charity work is carried out quietly outside of the spotlight.

Hercules isn't his finest album - I will give you that. It's his 31st solo studio album, not 32nd. But add the the six albums he made with the Jeff Beck Group and the Faces and that's 37 albums. All of them have been hits in major markets all over the World. Had Rod never made another album after 1977 it would not have mattered because his fourteen albums up to that point were so flawless, so full of passion, soul, humour and wit that that he has earned the right to record what he wants.

I'm biased. I've been a fan for over 50 years. Rod Stewart's music has given me more pleasure over the years than any other artist. What have you people ever done? By comparison you don't matter, you are insignificant. It must be horrible being you.

Are ... are some of these comments part of a bit, or something? Because of all the musical artists I'd expect to see breathlessly defended by humorless superfans in the comments of an Albummer episode, Rod Stewart would not have been one of my top guesses.
