Arcade Spirits is a romantic comedy set in the alternate history of 20XX, a timeline where the arcade crash of 1983 never happened. The player character is a recent hire to the Funplex, a small mom 'n pop arcade. The story involves befriending and/or romancing staff and gamers alike as the player makes decisions that affect the future of the arcade. This involves game conventions, organizing tournaments, dealing with customer service problems, and more.
As a visual novel, interaction comes in the form of decision making -- who to talk to, how to react to things they say, what choices to make when given several ways to address a situation. These decisions will build up the player's personality score and relationships, which in turn determine the path the game's story will take.
