Three factions vie for dominance in a Real-Time Strategy game set in the near future. Act of Aggression is made by Eugen Systems, makers of other RTS series who wished to make a game that balanced the speculative high-tech world from Act of War with the more-realistic strategy of their Wargame series.
Fighting enemies on multiple fronts around the world has stretched the traditional army to the breaking point, forcing them to scale back operations a bit. Though other factions have gotten more tech-savvy, the US Army still has the most powerful armor and aircraft units when fully upgraded. Their defensive structures can detect stealthed units and shred enemy attacks, but require a lot of power to stay operational.
A UN peacekeeping force that has become more aggressive in its mission. Its HQ can be built almost anywhere on the map, and can generate its own power. The Chimera contain highly-skilled infantry, from snipers with .50 cal rifles to fast exosoldiers who can heal on the battlefield, and they can be upgraded to deal with nearly any situation. This faction requires a lot of cash/oil in order to continue building units.
A shadowy mix of private military corporations and rich individuals who seek to dominate the world, they can extend their base quickly and efficiently. Their units are adept at stealth and pack a strong punch. However, they use a lot of prototype technology, which means that their more advanced units are quite fragile and need support in the battlefield to stay alive. Also, being resource-intensive means they need to keep control of a lot of resources. However, they can build prisons and capture enemy POWs in the field for quick extra cash.
Cash: the main resource for hiring troops to fight for you. Can be extracted in multiple ways.
- Extracting from oil patches on the field
- Occupying banks with your infantry
- [Cartel] capturing downed enemy soldiers as POWs on the battlefield.
Aluminum: necessary for building structures and vehicles.
Rare metals: useful for advanced tech.
