Hiroyuki Ito is the creator of Active Dimension Battle. The system name is officially abbreviated to ADB.

First appearing in Final Fantasy XII, the ADB system is a cross between the ATB (Active Time Battle) system used in offline Final Fantasy games and the RTB (Real-Time Battle) system used in the online Final Fantasy XI. In ADB, the battles are seamless, with no battle transitions or separate battle maps. The gameplay mechanics of ADB are a mixture of Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy XI. A major feature in games that use ADB is Auto-Attack replacing manually entering basic attacks.
