Admiral Petrarch is the commander of the newly commissioned GTD Aquitane, the first of the Hecate class destroyers. The Aquitane serves as the players base of operations during the campaign of Freespace 2 (Game). As such Petrarch is the players superior officer for much of the game and grants must expostion of the plot through briefings and finally in the end cutscene. Petrarch is voiced by Academy Award winning actor Robert Loggia.
