Where evil is created, or at least where scientific experiments are conducted. Test tubes filled with pretty liquids are almost a must.
Where people come to browse and borrow books and other media, or do research. May contain a shushing librarian. Also some mansions may contain a room called the library.
Halls, also called hallways or corridors, are areas that connect rooms. Not much happens here except people going from one room to another, but in some games the player sees little else.
Excessively large and luxurious houses, usually built on several thousand square feet.
Beaches are slopes of sand, gravel, or pebbles that lead down to the water of an ocean, sea, river, or lake.
A kitchen is found in many game for purposes of food preparation and storage. People may eat there too.
Where the wonders of the natural world, history, great art, and scientific endeavor can be appreciated by the layperson. Or someone can get shot in the face, depending on the game.
A place of worship.
A common place in Survival Horror video games. Burial grounds for the deceased. Or zombies.
Office or headquarters for police officers, also contains holding cells and interrogation rooms.
