Apart from the basement, the scariest place in the house.
Ballrooms are places specifically for people to dance in. Some large mansions and public buildings may have one. I heard AC/DC has the biggest ballroom of them all.
A floor below ground level in buildings found in some parts of the world. A chief dwelling of zombies, ghosts and portals from hell.

Where people come to browse and borrow books and other media, or do research. May contain a shushing librarian. Also some mansions may contain a room called the library.
The living room is the place in the house you're most likely to "hang out" in. It usually has a couch, chairs, and most importantly TV's, VCR's, stereos, and video game consoles and games.

Where the wonders of the natural world, history, great art, and scientific endeavor can be appreciated by the layperson. Or someone can get shot in the face, depending on the game.

Stairways are areas you can go up or down in via steps. It is usually done by walking, but escalators save you the effort. Also, technically, ladders are movable stairways.
The United States serves as the location or the back-story of countless video games. It also plays host to some of the largest game development studios and publishers in the world.
