You like dynasty warriors. I like all the koei warriors games and I've played a bunch of anarchy reigns. That game is a stylized dynasty warriors in a almost copyright infringing way. There is a kill counter in the corner, theres a meusou bar. your fighting big groups of guys that barely fight back, in a big open map. The controls are almost the same. If you liked anarchy reigns, you'd actually love sengoku basra. It's the crazy over the top version of dynasty warriors.
Anarchy Reigns
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jul 05, 2012
In a distant, chaotic future, cyborgs beat the crap out of each other in this multiplayer-heavy 3D beat 'em up from the developers of MadWorld and Bayonetta.
If you liked anarchy reigns I got sour new for you.
I hear a lot of people mentioning Dynasty Warriors games as guilty pleasures these days. And I have to admit that when they describe why that is, it does sound like a ton of fun. I've never played one (nor have I played Anarchy Reigns), though maybe I should. But really, "Hey guys! I heard you like this game. Did you know that there are other games a whole lot like that one that you'll probably also enjoy" sounds like great news rather than sour news.

If those games don't have Deathball then no, you're wrong.
What this guy said. Deathball is a way of life.
Im itching to play a dynasty warriors game...or rather Warriors Orochi, the last on i played on PS2 was great and its been a good long time. The problem with those games is they come out every year and dont change much.
I already know that Anarchy Reigns takes a lot from Dynasty Warriors, it feels a lot like what DW6 should have been as the first "current gen" DW game. Though I say this as someone who likes Dynasty Warriors, I dont play every iteration (and I want it to change) but I like DW and I dont care.
It's been awhile since I've played a DW game but I don't remember the controls being similar in a way that matters.
I like DW and the fodder combat is kind of similar but the "character vs character" (I'm not thinking of a better name for this) fighting in Anarchy Reigns is actually fun and involves a good amount of skill if both players have an idea of what they are doing (or at least that's how I feel about it, I haven't been able to play much online regrettably).
I also find the "character vs character" combat in DW to be total shit. It's far too lethal and restarting a level because one mistake cost you your entire bar of health is not fun.
Anarchy Reigns is a far better game than any Koei Warrior game I've played. I think someone who doesn't care for DW games could enjoy Anarchy Reigns. I don't think someone who likes Anarchy Reigns will necessarily like a Warriors game.

Thats so true and its what stops me buying more, it doesnt have to be a huge change but they need to spice up the campaign a bit and remix some of the fighting systems and get AI thats actually a proper challenge instead of just cheap when it needs to ramp up the difficulty.
I really liked some of the changed they made with Strikeforce; a crafting system, squad tactics and some interesting bosses, if they tightened up some of these aspects i'd be well on board for another trip through yellow turban lands.some of the best local coop experiences i ever had where on early Dynasty warriors games.
Difference being is this game is not million bucks. It's $29.99.@MariachiMacabre said:

It's million bucks on the inside, though. It has million bucks worth of heart!
The game really reminds me of the last Clover game God Hand. It seems like the continuation of that line of game design with Madworld of course being in between. Although I have a feeling no Platinum/Clover story will ever top how ridiculous God Hand was. And this is the studio that made Bayonetta. Probably the worst game that team has made, God Hand, but so completely insane that it was still pretty fun.
@JZ: I received it in Gamefly about 3 hours ago, its already on its way back. Its absolute garbage. Probably one of the worst control schemes I've seen, Its especially dumb that I have to hold down Block before I can evade. I should be able to just evade. But overall its pure trash
Is liking Dynasty Warriors frowned upon? I've only played 5 and I really enjoyed it. Am I now a terrible person? Am I to be shunned like a leper? If so, I'm sorry can you ever forgive me?

@JZ: Any recommendations for folks who like Anarchy Reigns, but have never played a Dynasty Warriors game? I was thinking about getting one of the One Piece or Fist of the North Star games at some point.
Since I haven't played any of the OP games (Not a big fan), I can't really comment on their quality. FoTNS, on the other hand, is basically a super slow, super awkward version of the Dynasty Warriors games. I admit to not playing a regular Dynasty Warriors game in years, but if they feel anything like the FoTNS title, then I'm not quite sure how they're able to make money.
Edit: The Dynasty Warriors: Gundam titles are pretty chill. The VA can be shoddy at times (Surprise!) and the licensed music from the various series are absent in the NA versions, but they feel good from a gameplay perspective.
