It will last a long time.
It has great graphics.
and looks freaking fun.

Game of the Year 08?
Ehh, I don't see Animal Crossing as the game to remember. Most of the concepts for the game are reused, and all around, there are little graphical improvements from the previous games.
I say, it's too early as of now to claim a game of the year. If I had to guess, however, it would be LittleBigPlanet, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, or Resistance 2. Unfortunately, Nintendo is having a lackluster year. The only quality games released from Ninendo this year were Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but I feel that they aren't groundbreaking enough to warrant a game of the year award.
"It will last a long time.I think you're right when you say "it will last a long time and looks awesome", but I don't really think it has great graphics, at least not yet. As for being game of the year- chances are very slim, but I am sure as heck excited for it; City Folk is definitely the must buy game for Wii so far this year.

Defanitley not going to get GOTY. Look at the competition, Gears of War 2 Im guessing will get GOTY08. But I bet Animal Crossing will get nominated, but no where near gonnna get close to win GOTY.
It has an amazing concept that was invented 5 years ago by its predacessor. It's amazing how its graphics still look like the DS version and they add nothing new or innovative. But wait, I can fish with four of my friends! SWEET
/sarcasm
This game will be no where close to GOTY. Fallout 3,Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Fable 2. SO many better games coming this holiday than animal crossing.
LittleBigPlanet anyone? Seriously, when has such a refreshing game come along on a console like LBP? If it is anything like what they've promised it has my vote.
You also can't count out Gears 2, MGS4, or Resistance 2.
There's absolutely no way this can win game of the year. It's exactly like the Gamecube game (gameplay-wise, and visually).
I don't think game of the year, maybe GTAIV or MGS4 because they get pretty much perfect ratings from everywhere, but this could most likely get Wii game of the year or simulation GOTY.
So far, for me it has to be Super Smash Bros Brawl, although Mario Kart Wii would be very close. I played many hours of Mario Kart Wii, especially online and it was really good fun. I think when it comes to quality though, Super Smash Bros Brawl was incredible.
Wario Land: The Shake Dimension might be another contender for GOTY as well, for me.
Fable 2 because of co-op capabilities? because we all know co-op has never been done before! honestly..I doubt fable 2 will even be nominated with that and gears being the only 360 exclusives, the majority seem to care waaay more about gears, or only gears and don't give a shit regardless. I'm looking forward more so to the likes of, dead space(because its actually original) seeing how mirror's edge turns out(once more, cuz its original) Fallout 3 and Left4Dead, since fears2 got pushed back. I'll never understand what people see in Fable though. Peter M would probably correct you though saying "no no, fable 2 is amazing because it has this dog...and he(goes on with a 2hour rant about that)
I take it this thread is asking us whether we think AC:CF will be game of the year this year. my answer is, no it won't. Yes I will buy it and enjoy it but it is too similar to wild word or the original. MGS4 is my personal preference thus far but there are still a ton of games left to come out.
Considering it looks almost completely identical to the Gamecube game that came out in like 2002, with some of the updates we saw in the sequel in Animal Crossing: Wild World which came out like 2004-2005, I think surely you must be joking. From what I've read in previews, the "city" section is incredibly small and consists of like 4 tiny buildings and an alley. I'll still play it, but I'm definitely disappointed with the lack of change.
As someone that hitchhiked 30 miles in a semi and then walked a good 7 miles back home all for the original AC as I was hyped about it, and loved it for a good year - I just don't see this being GOTY, ever. The game looks like ACWW with the original AC graphics. I am sure it will be fun, but a lot of the people that buy the game probably doesn't even know what GOTY stands for, I know my mom doesn't and she loves the AC series.
"Zenaxzd said:I lived at the time in a small town in kentucky (still live there through the summer when not on campus now). Honestly I could of got the game at our local wal-mart (the only place that actually sells games in the town to be exact) but I was really hyped for it so I reserved it at a gamestop in a town about 45 miles away when I first heard about it in Nintendo Power. Our wal-mart had a terrible habit of not getting games on time, or ever (they have still yet to ever sell a copy of the original Tales of symphonia to this day) and I wanted to make sure I had AC on release day!"As someone that hitchhiked 30 miles in a semi and then walked a good 7 miles back home all for the original AC"O_O
Where the fuck do you live??"
