Anyone else love the cube one but didn't care for the DS sequel?

I enjoyed the DS one but prefered the Gamecube game. I was at University at the time and living in shared accommodation with a rabble of drug users, the towns message board would often make for amusing reading as a result...

Same for me. The one I didn't care for was City Folk. It was just Wild World: Championship Edition.

I hated that game, it had very little positive invention, and to make matters worse Nintendo's Konno-san was oblivious as to why people were miffed. It was poor, but I still hope for a new console version of AC that has 3DS connectivity with this game.

And the Gamecube game, was a N64 game in disguise, not that anyone cared.

The graphic style in the Gamecube game is my favourite out of the lot, I really loved the polygon chara's with the big heads and tiny bodies. Thankfully in this game you can alter the length of your body to how you prefer.

    edit:

I've already decided I'm going to be a tiny Samurai in this version (you can get the unique hairstyle in this version), with an Edo palace as my home (seen one already in footage).

I'm with you guys, I didn't especially care for the last two versions, though in my experience the DS version's popularity seemed to eventually overshadow the GC version. All the new content is great and all, but I can't exactly put my finger on why they didn't click with me. I will say I was not a fan of the Wii controls, they were a bit of a mess.

One thing that bothered me personally is that both versions had a lower population limit than the GC version. It's a really nitpicky thing, but they always felt more empty than the original.

I'm pretty darn excited about this one though. I'll be picking up a 3DS as soon as it comes out.

The gameplay in Animal Crossing is Zen-like, so having awkward controls ruins that feeling completely.

Lemon trees are dope. I'm going to have only lemons. I love AC, it's so soothing.

I think this game is going to be the best in this franchise.

I think so too. It's kinda clear to see now, you only have to look at the OP in the other thread. This game is extremely feature rich, but then It should be after the terrible Wii game that did very little to innovate and push this series forward.

If they announce Wii U version ( Animal Crossing: Jump In?), that connects with this game, Wii U's success is practically assured. Just look how badly the original Phat DS sold initially, then look at how sales spiked soon after the release of AC: Wide World, which came out before the DS Lite did. the DS install base was built on the foundation of this series.
