    APB Reloaded

Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Jun 29, 2010

Better known as the free-to-play "APB: Reloaded", APB is a MMO third-person shooter by the developers of Crackdown. Players choose between the hard-boiled law enforcers or the feared criminals as they try to stop the opposing faction's objectives.

I am sure you all know that I do not like APB...

Realtime Worlds should have just stuck with making amazing open world games like Crackdown. I see this game going the same route as Tabula Rasa.

Dammit, another reason to skip APB. it looked so good last year, too.

Audio ads. Pay-per-time. They should just go all out and stick in some random character animations of your dude chuggin a Dew after which he/she turns around and yells "Do the Dew!" all up in yer face!!

    ...and then spams your inbox.

I can't remember many games that went from ten to zero on the anticipation scale quite like this one did.

To me this is just going to far. And even showing they blew past their budget. That is why they changed from free to play. To pay to play

Did you hear that they tried to embargo reviews until a week after release?  I thought that was quite amusing.

One 30 second ad when you first enter a district and then you will only hear it again if you join another district after playing for 3 hours, hardly noticable.

Hardly anyone worth mentioning is going to be using the ingame voip anyway. Vent/TS/whatever is always better than whatever MMOs offer.

My friend is Beta-testing and I gathered that there are specific problems with that game but nothing shocking.

It isnt really going to bother me but the problem here is Vivox. RTW is using them for voip and obvously its gonna cost them money to license the software.

Im guessing they think they wont be able to afford that without charging people a little extra?

It's too bad too since I had high hopes for this game. After playing in both the beta and the "keys to the city", I can safely say that this game is poo.

Like you're doing anything else while a district loads... Christ, don't you watch television? I wish I only got one 30 second ad every 3 hours. I don't even have enough spare time to hear a second one.

This game had so much promise..but well..playing the beta crushed my hopes.

Not to mention what they tried with not allowing reviews for a week untill after release.

I have fun with it. Maybe because I came from play CS for like 5  years then CS:S for another couple years. And that was without any cars, voice chat (first version of CS anyways) no new weapons, and ass holes with AWM's that snipe you through walls constantly.

Then again, it was free all those years.

That's why I like the idea of paying for game time. So I can chose between playing a whole month or just buy 20 hours and spread it out an hour here and there when I have the time. I think audio ads is cheap, but at the same time it won't bother me since it's just when you enter a district after the 3 hour mark.

I found the beta pretty weak myself. But i mean having to actually listen to the ads ingame is just a terrible idea, if anything it better be that slap chop remix commercial :l

Calling it now. This game has 18 months. It will 1. Go the way of Gloabl Agenda and drop the sub in favor a GW model 2. Go F2P with a cash shop 3. Keep the subscription and watch the number of players drop over time.

if you're using the games own voip you're doing it very wrong anyway, all those complaining about adverts, remember that you live on planet earth, not in your magical dream fairy land. either nut up, or shut up.

is a 30 second ad really that bloodcurdlingly awful? man up and just accept it. It would be a stupid to not buy the game because you don't want to listen to an ad. you could always turn down the volume!

and I love the idea of buying time to play rather than paying a monthly fee, and doesn't APB offer both styles of payment plans? I hope i can test the game out before it comes out cus it doesn't look so bad, but based on all you guys saying the beta sucks i'd like to try an open beta or something

Why? I think it's a fairly good deal. Either you play a lot and pay marginally more than for a static amount of hours which will last forever. So if I play 2hours per week or so it'd be much cheaper than paying a monthly subscription. It's a good offer and I'll be making use of it.

The game was supposed to be free to play at first.

Then they said you would have to pay to play.

This made me think they realized they would not be able to support their servers.
THEN even know they had pay to play. They realized they would not be able to afford to support their own game. So they turned to these ads.

Yeah, everything about APB sounds like it was designed by people only a little bit smarter than the developers of CrimeCraft. Just a little bit.
