    Overview

The latest in a series of sports simulation games where Electronic Arts copy-pastes the same gameplay mechanics from the last one, updates the rosters, maybe tweaks the graphics a bit, and removes more features that aren't FIFA Ultimate Team and snaring enough whales into buying FUT cards and card packs with real money to fuel the massive lootbox/gacha machine that everyone hates yet no one will actually stop putting money into because our government has all but given up on regulating any big companies and you Gamers are filthy pigs who love the slop and being treated like shit as long as you can dress it up with enough cool graphics and an exclusivity agreement to ensure that there is no other competition other than Konami's eFootball which has made things even worse while hanging on for dear life to the few licenses it has.

    New features from FIFA 22

HyperMotion 2 Technology - Up to 6,000 animations of real soccer/football play derived from millions of frames of advanced match capture, which is more than the last one. Or maybe this is just ad copy. Would you really notice the difference, or care?

Women's Clubs - You can now play with 17 different international women's soccer teams, plus club teams from the FA Women's Super League (UK) and D1 Arkema (France).

FIFA Ultimate Team 23 - Revamped Team Chemistry and more chances to waste your time and money against players from across the world who have given up their dignity just like you.

Ted Lasso - The fictional coach and his fictional team AFC Richmond are in the game. That's right, a character developed by NBC's marketing team to sell their coverage of Premier League soccer in the US has taken on a life of its own because people are desperate for a manufactured world in which a good guy can succeed for once as they have no real power to change anything in this country so they might as well yell at the showrunner until they create a world where the problems are solved. You can get Ted Lasso, Coach Beard, and players from their team in any of the modes, including as FIFA Ultimate Team rewards where you can pretend you don't have to spend extra money but the FOMO is geared towards ensuring that you do.

2022 World Cup - A complete shitshow that's only going forward because the Qatari Royal Family has a lot of money and deposited a relative handful of it into the bank accounts of FIFA executives. This mode allows you to re-live the dramatic moments of the World Cup, or write an alternate story such as taking the host nation Qatar to the Finals in a world where thousands of migrant workers didn't die to build 4 world-class stadiums, 3 of which will reportedly be torn down once this is all over because Qatar only has so much football/soccer to go around locally, and people aren't being denied access or outright expelled from the country for wearing anything that might be considered LGBTQ+ friendly. After all, this isn't a political management sim.
